With the nice win over Raceland is Fairview a legit 1A contender or are the 1A teams on the top of the mountain still too much for the Eagles?

For beating a mediocre Raceland team? I dont think so. I dont think they come within 20 points of Mayfield, Holy Cross, Hazard, or Beechwood. Good win for them though

It's funny how Fairview wasn't great and hadn't played anyone until Raceland beat them. Now they are an excellent team that should contend. I mean, come on.

I am pretty sure I saw the 2010 Class A state championship trophy on the Mayfield sideline this past Friday night in Barlow anyway.

All I was trying to say SS is every year is a new year in football. About every 7 out of 10 years a new team that has never won a state championship sneeks up and wins one. Like LCA winning their first one last year. And others before them. I believe MHC is #1. But you never know with out some doubt who will win it all. Last year I think you talked alot on hear that you thought Mayfield would win it all. Especially after beating Beechwood. But you got killed in the final game. Don't get me wrong I wish it was our team that made it to the final game and got it put on us. But someone else won it's first title. All I'm saying is sometimes a team will come out of nowhere and make noise! Good luck the rest of the year!

Definitely NOT making anything up.

 

The gentlemen (there were 6 in the group that we spoke with--including everyone else around us) stated that they felt the only obstacle that Mayfield has was the travel for possible 3rd/4th round games. They spoke intelligently of their competition (including players, coaches and knew the numbers of specific players for the competition who would be tough match ups--which really impressed me because I have seen basically everyone that is worth seeing) ... and why they thought that this was one of the best Mayfield teams in the past 20 years.

 

I thought it was great conversation ... and felt like those guys knew what they were talking about (especially since they did not have kids playing on the team).

 

So .. people can say what they want about me .... and what I say.

But at the end of the day ... I am only repeating I conversation that I have had in the recent past (I am not even going into the conversations I have had in previous weeks).
