The KHSAA will lose money because of putting X and T in the same district. It changes nothing outside of that. You've made Pride Week into the biggest district game of the year...thats all, but why take what could be 200 grand out of your pocket to send T and X into the same district? Poor financial move any way you look at it.

 

So my question is are you happy that your school will collect the money or are you angry that X and T won't face off in the finals?

And this thread proves it....no one has paid attention to what several of us T posters have been posting...that we're fine with the new district. We do understand where M & H would be upset though. Oh well....

The way I see it there are a lot of other schools who have real issues with the new alighnment, mainly with travel. Middlesboro's closest district opponent is about an 1 hr and 15 min. drive and they have 2 opponents well over 2 hour drives. Now that is a real issue to have to travel so much. You can say what you want about the new districts, but you are only going to have to drive 6 miles for Trinity and St X to play. In this new alighnment St X. and Trinity aren't catered to. And there is politics involved I'm sure, but its not as big of a problem as some people have.

My, my, H! I am truly surprised by the venom being spewed. This is just a continuation of the socialistically targeted witch hunt which occurs when any entity's success displays signs of longevity. Don't try to emulate it. Just plot to tear it down, so the pieces can be fed to the masses who wish to minimize competition and reward mediocrity.

 

Let's just call this KHSAA sharade for what it truly is. This 6A realignment was directed specifically at minimizing the teams who could potentially have to beat both Trinity and St. X. to claim a championship. You allude to this yourself. Personally, I can live with it, as I can forsee a much stronger regular season schedule with its attendent larger crowds and income, plus the money from the added X/T game in better weather conditions.

 

However, the odd part of this situation now is that it is Male and Manual who were the lucky twosome chosen to join our little four-man group, so they are now the only ones sentenced to this horrid X/T gauntlet annually before even getting to the semi-finals. I wonder does it bother you as to why you were chosen to be so lucky? Oh well, strap it up my friend and welcome to our new little sewing circle.

 

 

Easy, big fella. The purpose of my post was not to spew venom or to express irritation at being chosen to help fill out this 'Murderer's Row' district. It was to soberly point out to the X and T fans who feel singled out and choose to criticize the KHSAA that things could be a whole lot worse for them and that accommodations made by the KHSAA have gone a long way toward neutralizing the animosity toward the privates regarding the sport of football.

Why bring up a straw man and pretend that the only argument against this alignment is that T and X can't meet in the finals? I'd be fine if they put T and X in neighboring districts and they always played for a regional, if it made geographic sense.

 

These districts in Jefferson County don't pay attention to geography. Instead, the KHSAA is guilty of exactly what you accuse others of--being concerned with whether X and T make the finals. It shouldn't enter into their consideration.

That's a weighted scale in that we've been in the finals most years, all the while they were here in Louisville. In 2011, let's say it's X, Manual, Trinity, or Male, -vs- some out in the state team, I bet the gate is far less. We can't take years of Louisville finals' numbers compared to one Bowling Green finals' numbers (with X -vs- T) as a prognosis for future revenue.

 

Here are the avg KHSAA football playoff revenue numbers for the six years the game was at PJCS in Louisville:

 

X/T games (03, 05, 07): $322,431

non X/T games (04, 06, 08): $244,207

 

Difference: $78,225 (

 

And keep in mind this is for all classes

 

The takeaway is that having an X/T final doesn't make or break the KHSAA's year

Flip the script: What if X and T were both located in Owenboro, and the KHSAA set it up so that they were in different districts, in opposite regions and could make the finals?

 

Would anyone be OK with that? It's not alright for them to gerrymander the districts to give X and T an advantage to make the finals, and it's not alright to do the same to keep them out. Geography should have been the only concern.

I see where this is going, and in that case why not have the cojones to propose the public-private split? Why is Lex Cath or NCC or Holy Cross treated any differently than Manual or Trinity?
