Not one team better, but a complete district that is better from top to bottom? Three top 10 teams in the state, the defending State Champion, and a district where two teams (Raceland and LCA) have met for the Regional Championship four out of the last five years. A district that the top three teams have won the first round of the playoffs the last two years.

 

District-5- Fairview, Lexington Christian, Nicholas County, Paris, Raceland

Mostly, but over the last several years this scenario has been virtually the same. LCA, Raceland, and Fairview have all been top 10 teams over the last several years, and LCA has been in the finals twice, and Raceland and LCA have played each other in the Regional Championship for years after beating out the opposing district. So, it's not just this year.

 

Now, I know that Hazard, Beechwood, and Mayfield have been really good, and Frankfort and some other teams have been good, but I'm not talking about teams, I'm talking about the whole district.

I think that all of class A has gotten a little watered down don't you? Over the years we have lost a lot of good football teams

How have the teams in each district performed in the playoffs since the six class system started? That is a helpful indicator of the strength of districts because of teams playing teams from other districts. District 5 is definitely one of the top districts over the past few years. I don't think there is another 1A district that has 3 consistently good teams like LCA, Raceland and Fairview.

Raceland = Better the last few years ... but not Great .. and not close.

The rest of the district ... not very good.

They don't match up with the NKY Class A district anymore.

You are now matched up with a even a worse district ... which means that you usually end up playing each other in the 2nd/3rd rounds of the playoffs.

This doesn't mean that your district is good ... it means that your district is matched up against an even worse district.

Even without NCC ... the NKY district would routinely go 3-1 in the first round if still matched up with 5.

if your referring to District 3: Beechwood, Bellevue, Bishop Brossart, Dayton, Ludlow, Walton-Verona, they only have one team in the top ten.

Keep reliving the 80's and 90's if you wish slick, but I think most people know more about football then you are giving them credit for. And if you believe the manurer your spreading then I lost a lot of respect for you. I know Beechwood is good and so does most people, really good year in and year out. But, I would take your match up of Raceland and Fairview over the last four years versus any other 1A team in NKY any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

 

If NCC was still 1A, I wouldn't even entertain this thought, but they are not and the district is weaker for it.

 

So, I will give you Beechwood, but as for the entire district, no. Not even close.

Which means what? NOTHING.

The thread originator even admitted that Fairview has played no one.

And before you ask ... I have seen every team in this district with one exception.

It was similar in the past .. Beechwood/NCC ranked high .. the other two were not (sometimes they were) .. but it was more times than not--a win for the 3rd/4th seeds from NKY.

Go back and check the results.

It would be the same this year. (Even though NKY is just as down in Class A as everywhere else seems to be).

If District 5 matched up with the NKY district this year ... there would be 1 win at the most in the first round. (And that wouldn't even be guaranteed--the best hope being LCA). The rest of the teams would have an uphill battle to fight.

quickslick, to be fair, years ago, I would have agreed with you. With Beechwood, NCC, and Belvue the NKY district was very strong, and without a doubt the best 1A district at the time. But, NCC is gone, and Belvue of 2000's is not the Belvue of years ago.

 

LCA is strong, possible as strong as Beechwood for the last two or three years. Yes, I know Beechwood beat them in the finals two years ago, but not by much and it could be argued they were fairly equal. Raceland and Fairview are and have been better then the two and three team from NKY the last three or four years. I don't see how you could argue with that.

Lets also not make the mistake of caring whether you lose respect for me .... no one cares ... and it isn't worth mentioning in this forum.

 

I will ask one question ... and one question only: Why are you talking out of both sides of your mouth? You say that Fairview hasn't played anyone .. yet you say that over the past four years they could beat anyone in the NKY district other than Beechwood. Not sure that makes a lot of sense. You basically made the point yourself that Fairview was undefeated because they haven't played anyone. Very hard to take you seriously when you yourself admit that a "ranked" team in your district isn't playing any good teams (meaning--they have beaten poor teams--which is why they are ranked to begin with--remember--YOU said as much yourself).

Here is an example (just one ... for now) ... last year ... an upstart/fairly new program nearly beat Frankfort (which was "ranked" at the time--which again means NOTHING), the next week ... the 2nd seed in the NKY district beat them. The only team in your district that would have beaten Frankfort last year was LCA.

 

How many times are you matching up with ranked teams from the other district in the playoffs? (Here's a clue--NOT OFTEN). You are winning more because you are playing worse teams. Conversely, the NKY district was smacking you guys around for years and years (and would again).

 

I find it hard to believe that you guys are tooting your own horns when you are beating sub-par competition (each other) with the exception of LCA.
