Is There a Better 1A District then District 5?

Featured Replies

I think that you are the one upset that someone didn't agree with YOUR opinion.

I refuted it with facts.

You and your district 5 cronies can't seem to come to grips with that.

The proof is in the hardware ..... 1 for you guys ... a whole truckload for NKY.

That isn't opinion ... it is FACT. Get over it .. and move on.

First of all, your fact of the hardware is as you stated, undeniable. Many people statewide will say that NKY football is in a different gear than anywhere else. I would agree with this statement as well. I have followed NKY football since 1992 when my best friend was an assistant coach at Beechwood and drove from EKY to watch every game for 3 or 4 years. I have watched almost every NKY team play at least once and have played against CovCath as well (Back in the day). But, Ram has postulated that District 5 is tougher than any other 1A District this year and maybe has been for the past few years. He has not said anything to disrespect Beechwood. Year in and year out they are the measuring stick. Mayfield is probably head and shoulders above everyone in 1A this year but their District is weak (my opinion). All Ram is asking, which requires speculation and opinion, is from top to bottom, is District 5 better? I think 5 is getting close to the NKY District, if not better. 2006-present District 5 playing NKY would have been very entertaining. Yes, there is a lot of love and support for our teams, as you feel towards yours. This entire thread is intended for opinion. The hardware can only be hoisted by one team, not a District, so the fact of winning it all means nothing regarding the strength of the entire District. If NCC were still 1A, this thread would not hold water, but the fact is, they are 2A and doesn't matter. I believe if the 2 Districts were combined and played each other, Beechwood would win every game against District 5 but, in my opinion, District 5 would hold the next 3 spots. Again, this is my opinion. BTW, the truckload of hardware is at Beechwood, not the entire District.

I think this whole discussion of these two districts narrows down to this. Everyone agrees Beechwood is at the top. LCA is clearly number 2. I think you would have to say Raceland is number 3 this year but Bellevue is right there for #3 if you look back over the past 5-10 years. However, Bellevue is down this year so if we are talking about this year then maybe Fairview is number 4. The question no one can answer is how would the teams in the middle match up this year. How good are Bellevue, Walton Verona and Brossart versus Fairview and maybe Raceland? It is the teams in the middle that make it hard to decide which district is better this year. I think we will have to wait for the playoffs and see how these teams do there to truly have a feel for that.

Take away Beechwood and that district falls off! Take away LCA you still have top 10 Fairview and Raceland every year.

Even in so called down years Beechwood is a top 7. We shoud all hope to be in that position.

But the rest of those teams the past few years have dropped off.

And the past seven or eight years district five has been on the rise. Mostly because of LCA. But to have three

teams in the top 10 year in year out has to say something. While Beechwoods district may have up to two sometimes in the top 10.

Beechwood has more state hardware then district five teams combined. But we are talking dictricts. NOT ONE TEAM! I brag and take up for Beechwood when it come to the western posters. You got all the respect in the world from here in northeastern Ky. You have been one of the best if not the best the past 25 years.

Good summation and I think you understand what the intent of the thread was. What most people don't seem to understand is, Raclenad, except for last year, has been very competitive with LCA. Yes they have won some, but Raceland has won their share as well and in 2008 took LCA to the wire, literally the wire. LCA and Raceland, again except for last year, have been very close and either would have represented the district well.

What eagle said about Raceland maybe beating Hazard in 2008 was an accurate and true statement. Yes, LCA beat Raceland the week before and was a very good team they were admittedly weak vs. the run. Hazard was a very strong running team. Raceland was very good vs. the run, look at Hayden's stats vs. Raceland that year, I think it was his season low. Raceland simply would have matched up with Hazard better. No knock on LCA, just something to think about.

I think Raceland has been underrated by some and I would say the same about Bellevue the last couple of years. Last year's Bellevue team was very good and probably would have given Mayfield a better game than Beechwood because Bellevue had the beef on the line to match up better with Mayfield.
