By the way, I think this game is being televised by TBNK as a game of the week....

I'm sure they had good reasons for building the visitors stands the way they did. But what rankles me is the couple of times I've decided to sit on the home side, I caught some legit grief by Dixie fans for not sitting on the visitors side. I thought to myself: come on. Either build visitor bleachers where the fans can actually watch the game or don't complain when the visitor's fans sit on the home side.

I usually sit at the end of the Dixie section, so I'm between Dixie fans and visiting fans. Rarely do I hear comments aimed at one another, but it does happen. However, it happens in every stadium that has fans sharing the same bleachers.

If the warehouse owner on Kenton Lands didn't want an arm and a leg for their property, this seating situation wouldn't be a problem, as they were discussing the option of having a soccer field surrounded by the track and a separate football field.

I probably shouldn't have even mentioned it as I know the folks who said stuff don't represent the majority of Dixie fans. And as Henry well knows, when I do sit in the stands (which is a rarity because I prefer standing behind the end zone) I rarely say I word. Don't like talking to other Highlands fans, don't like talking to Henry and don't like talking to opposing team fans. Don't yell at all; don't cheer when good things happen, don't boo when bad things happen, etc. Just mind my business and watch the game. So it must have been the Birds mascot outfit I was wearing that gave me away as being a Highlands fan.

Does anyone know if the Highlands Athletic Boosters have a website? I know they used to, but I can't seem to find an active site online.

 

No, they do not have a website currently. Are you volunteering to build us one?

Considering Dixie is one of very few teams geographically (in Ky obviously) that may actually compete with HHS in any given year is reason enough. Additionally, they typically have athletes of a caliber that provides a test to HHS athletically..............on the Dixie side, I would hope that they will continue to attempt to progress their program and playing the best teams is the best way to challenge/measure yourself.

I know you have an axe to grind with Dixie so you don't want to look at it like this but, the result in 2002 has only been accomplished by 1 other NKY school since 1996.

I don't have an axe to grind with Dixie. I'm a big fan of many of the athletic programs at the school. I'm just tired of the mediocrity of the football program. Nonetheless, I wish the best for all of the the players, many of whom I know very, very well. They just can't "compete" with Highlands. 375 points vs 105 points scored over 10 years says it all.

You are correct! Beef O Brady's in Newport will be airing the game live. It is also the fox 19 game of the week. Should be a fun one!
