Alabama 24 Arkansas 20

My bad. I was thinking of the game where the Bama player blocked the field goal attempt at the end of the game. Maybe it was the UT game.

Yeah, those games were very similar. Arkansas is a much better team than that UT team. Arkansas may not lose another game this year.

And for my money, Mark Ingram is still the best player in the country and sits atop my Heisman board. I think the way alot of people (myself included for much of the last two years) view him is that he's not all that great, and I think it has to do with how he looks. He doesn't look like he'd be fast at all, but he is extremely quick. I think he's easily the best player in the country. I'm sorry that I did not give him his due, and even said Richardson was better. I was wrong, I'll take Richardson as the #2 back in the country but he is not Mark Ingram.

I think the comparisons to Emmitt Smith are valid. Ingram isn't the biggest or fastest guy, but he's a physical guy who simply knows how to run the football and he's proven himself capable of breaking the big run. I see a lot of similarities in those two. That's not to say Ingram will be a great NFL RB, although I think he'll be pretty good.

I thought the whole game would be like the second half and Bama would handle them easy. Arkansas played a great first half. Bama finishes better than anybody though. IMO Saban is the best coach in the country.

RBs are a dime a dozen in the NFL. If he goes to a team that has a good line he'll be a very good back at the next level.

I'm sure some team will do the dumb thing and pick him in the first round.

And yes, as I've said many times before, the Steelers picking Mendenhall in the first round was incredibly stupid.

Do you think the Titans were stupid for picking CJ at #24? Everyone sure ripped that pick to shreds when they made it, but I haven't heard a lot of complaining since seeing the product on the field.

I think that it depends on what is already in place. If you are picking at #24, chances are you are a play-off caliber team already and can add more weapons. If you are the Browns, you build your lines first and then worry about your weapons. Watch the Bengals this year. Their line is AWFUL and their team will be mediocre at best.

I believe that pick was scrutinized so much because the Titans had selected Lendale White and Chris Henry in previous seasons early in the draft and C.J. was unknown besides his incredible 40 yard dash time. Hindsight is 20/20 on these.

Really good game. Big time victory for Bama. Mallet shot the Hogs in the foot big time down the stretch...

I am still uncertain if Bama will make it through the season undefeated simply because it is so difficult to do in back-to-back seasons. Heck, I am still not ruling out a couple of losses. With that said they appear to be the most talented team with the best coach in America. They are absolutely stacked. Not to mention they have not necessarily the best, but a really good QB that does nothing but win. Who would you rather have than McElroy at the helm considering he has not lost a game since Middle School?

Gators will be a huge "Findout game". Even a loss will not keep either team from advancing to the SECCG. I'm really worried with their new look.

I don't see them losing to Florida, but it could keep them from the Championship game. I think Auburn is better than Florida and isn't that game at Auburn this year?

Ah, I wouldn't say it's worked out bad for the Steelers, or many other teams that pick a RB in round 1. You can find a good back that isn't even drafted high at all relatively often though, so I could see your point. Peterson was picked high, and it's been good for the Vikings. Reggie Bush was picked at #2, and though he's been labeled as a bust of sorts, I think it was a good pick for the Saints. If a team takes Ingram in the first round I think they're getting a very good back. Sure they could probably get a good one in rounds 2, 3 or 4 but why not go with a pretty sure thing if RB is a big need?

Auburn comes to visit Bama, if we are undefeated when we meet, well I just hope our young defense has grown up by then. USC after the Gators and almost everyone has a bye week before we meet.

Because there are very few sure things. Mendenhall has been pretty darned inconsistent. When you consider the facts that A) the NFL is littered with late-round and undrafted RBs playing big roles in timeshares and B) that the average shelf life of an NFL running back is about three years, spending first-round money on a running back is just waaaaayyyyyy too risky.
