Lack of talent or lack of Dave Eckstein?

Featured Replies

Great win for Walton tonight over Bellevue but what is going on in Bellevue? Is it a lack of talent, lack of Coach Dave Eckstein, both, or something else?

WV beating B-town doesn't surprise me. Bellevue seems to struggle in all sports with the recent exception of baseball.

Possibly both. I think Coach Eckstein got the most out of his guys @ every stop (Ryle,Carroll,Bellvue). But also @ all 3 places there was some "hangover". It is hard to follow a popular Coach like him, so possibly there is a little trouble @ different points of kids buying into another coach's system.

Dave Eckstein. He would have won six games with this team I am positive.

Can you elaborate on this for me? They went to the regional championship last year?

Walton is just playing good football and getting the job done. Good job Bearcats!

Fair enough. They had a nice season last year. I stand by my point that the overall status of the athletics program is not good.

No Ricky Buckler this year might add to the difficulty.............

From seeing Bellevue first hand, I'd say it's a lack of talent. Outside of Slater, they really don't have anyone that sticks out.

Could it be the type of offense they run. I know the new guy is from Cumberlands. Did they run a similar style before?

I was at the game and Bellevue has some very good atheletes on the team. Costly mistakes cost Bellevue the game and taking nothing from Walton they executed the offensive game plan very well. Both teams had opportunities and Walton played very well. These two teams will be in the playoffs. JD

I agree, but it seems that most are ignoring that.

I would agree that other programs in the school are not at the best level but football has been strong the past few years.

I think its an overall of everything going on down in B-town. The talent level of this team isn't as high up as the teams from previous years and I think that has hurt them alot. I'm not saying that this team don't have talent but they are in need of a big confidence boost. I also believe that teams around them are getting better (Walton, Brossart) which makes Bellevue not look the same as they have in previous years. I wouldn't put all the blame on the coaches either. Coach Shearer has EXTREMLY big shoes to fill coming in after Coach E. If you played for Coach E, which I did, I know that he is one of a kind man and that Coach Shearer has an enormous amount of pressure on him to be what Coach E was.

I really hope this team can get it together and soon. They have big games coming up and I hope to see them come together and get some wins under their belt.

Strong is a bit much IMO. 1A in NKY has been dreadful with the removal of Holy Cross and NCC. I can't think of any big/unexpected wins for the Tigers in quite a while. Now that Brossart seems to be getting better I expect Bellevue to slide even further.
