September 24, 201015 yr Yesterday I had what felt like a pimple in my nostril, this morning I woke up at 4am cause my nose was throbbing. I looked in the mirror and under one of my eyes was swolen badly and my nose looked like a clown nose and that nostril was almost completely blocked. I went to urgent care first thing and they took a culture and put me on a couple of anti-biotics and said it's possibly staph or MRSA. Really has me worried, anyone have any experience with this?
September 24, 201015 yr I had MRSA in my toe a few years back. Worst pain I have ever felt. They had to do a minor operation to cut it off my toe. It's awful. Spent 3 days in the hospital. Don't be scared though. :lol:

They told me the same thing and it did nothing to help I had to go to the ER in the middle of the night because it hurt so bad I couldn't sleep.
September 24, 201015 yr I've had staph infections and MRSA several times. It can be dangerous, so its important to take your medicine as perscribed, and to avoid spreading it to others (especially children) at all cost. MRSA is just one of the latest "super bugs". Its gotten less prevalent lately, I think. That's mainly because of greater awareness and better prevention methods.
September 24, 201015 yr Author This is one of the most painful things I've ever experienced. Hopefully since I got it checked out within 24 hrs and started my anti-biotics so quickly, we'll have gotten it in time
September 24, 201015 yr What is MRSA? :confused: Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus It's a "super-strong" version of a staph infection - more resistant to antibiotics.
September 24, 201015 yr Just keep it covered up, and don't let it ooze. It's common in locker rooms and places where people shower, use the bathroom, etc.
September 24, 201015 yr It's much less dangerous than the public believes it is. Probably 30 people a day come into the ED to get an abscess (MRSA) treated per day. Drain it, and take some Bactrim, and you'll be good soon enough.

Drain it, and take some Bactrim, and you'll be good soon enough. Its wrong to downplay the seriousness of MRSA. It can (and does) kill. If not treated aggressively, it can kill in a shockingly short period of time. As with anything else, it's most dangerous for the old, the young, and for those with weakened immune systems. In my worst bout, it took nearly a year of IV and oral medication before I tested negative. In that time, I was not allowed to see my young neice and nephew in my own home. Although it has become somewhat more resistant in recent years, MRSA is still treatable right now. But it is not something you should even think about taking lightly.

The pain was so bad they gave me Morphine but I was in the hospital so it's a little different. BF is right it's nothing to mess around with.
September 24, 201015 yr Two years ago my son got bit by a spider or something I took him to the ER and they kept referring to the bite as staph infection that really made me scratch my head I kept telling them it was either a spider bite or a nasty bee sting.
