September 27, 201015 yr Author It's really weird, cause I fall asleep mid convo, or mid text, or in this case mid BGP and then just wake up and continue where I left off, it's great
September 27, 201015 yr Author Well they just came in and said m culture is showing moderate growth of MRSA
September 27, 201015 yr It's really weird, cause I fall asleep mid convo, or mid text, or in this case mid BGP and then just wake up and continue where I left off, it's great  I did that when they gave me Morphine too. That is some powerful stuff. I could barely talk, I just laid there and would mumble when someone talked to me.
September 27, 201015 yr Just saw this thread. I hope you recover soon. During ACL reconstruction, acquired Staph Aureus (precedent to MERSA) and ultimately required 7 surgeries and 3 months in the hospital. I went home after surgery, but returned 5 days later with a 105 degree fever (to the emergency room). Infections are nothing to be taken lightly. I was reading about this the other day (excuse my paraphrasing): These bacteria are considered a part of the evolutionary selection process when people do not take a full course of antibiotics which kills ALL the bacteria in a population (some are stronger than others) and only the weaker bacteria are killed. Then what happens, as the bacteria reproduce, there is already a process of selection, and only the strong are repopulating. Over time a "super-bacteria" (resistant) population is formed.
September 27, 201015 yr 00R I hope you get better soon! A couple of years ago my daughter had one on her calf that was evil. She still has a bit of a hole in her leg where that was. At the same time, my son was dealing with one 2 hrs away in Evansville. I didn't even realize he was sick in anyway until he called me one night and I told him what was going on with his sister. He then told me what was going on with his big toe, which he'd been to the doctor about 3 times and misdiagnosed each time. I told him to go to the emergency room at the hospital, and sure enough...MSRA. Luckily it was still able to be treated and he didn't get sicker.
September 28, 201015 yr As far as I know Rocket is still in the Hospital and he said the pain isn't as bad but it looked like they were serving some terrible food.
September 28, 201015 yr Author Well, they're letting me go home today with a couple of oral anti-biotics that my cultures showed were vulnerable too, so hopefully after 10 days of that I'll be good to go! I feel fine, except I still had a knot in my nose to which I pointed out to my Dr. And he put some gauze up in the nostril, and..squeezed which hurt pretty bad, but all kinds of blood and puss came out!
September 28, 201015 yr Author And the food was awful! This whole experience has turned me into a germaphobe!
September 28, 201015 yr Dilaudid is a morphine derivative, so I'm betting you're floating right now ... Yeah, that's primo stuff. Nurse gave me some of that the night after surgery. I slept sound, and woke up late the next morning.
September 30, 201015 yr Well, they're letting me go home today with a couple of oral anti-biotics that my cultures showed were vulnerable too, so hopefully after 10 days of that I'll be good to go! I feel fine, except I still had a knot in my nose to which I pointed out to my Dr. And he put some gauze up in the nostril, and..squeezed which hurt pretty bad, but all kinds of blood and puss came out! I just gagged a little bit
September 30, 201015 yr Author I'm home now, been taking 2'different anti-biotics, I feel fine but definitely taking my meds religously and pray I never get this again.
September 30, 201015 yr Author Yea I've been washing my hands at minimum 25 times perday and using germ-x about that many as well, hopefully I'll someday be able to get over this fear cause I feel like a weirdo after every time I change excercises at the gym I go and wash my hands
