With the convincing win over Johnson Central is Bell County the clear favorite...

to win 4A?

Considering the common opponent of Boyle County, Bell looks to be the clear favorite, correct?

In no way should anyone think that Bell and Boyle winning against JC should be a gauge for a possible re-match game. If you go by the score then anyone couldn't tell me that Bell would be a 2-3 touchdown favorite over Boyle in a playoff game. NO WAY. IF that game should take place(which no team is guaranteed that it will) then it will be decided on the field.

This should get some interesting talk though. Which talk is all it will be. I'm sure Lexington Catholic, Knox Central, Rowan County, Lawrence County may have something to say about this also. Don't count those teams out.

Too early to tell. Boyle County has been dealing with some injuries and minor problems on defense. The boys are starting to adjust on the defensive side and it showed last night. Boyle County only gave up 43 yards of offense. That's just crazy, I don't care who is playing who. Now, Bell County definitely makes a great case for #1 in 4A but they are not the clear favorite. Just be at the game on Log Mountain when these boys meet up! :thumb:

I think Bell is the favorite because of what they return overall. They are playing like their talent should as well.

As Charles said, Boyle's had some injuries issues to this point. Their offense is more balanced than last year and improving each week. Right now Bell is the clear cut favorite. If they meet in November, who knows.

Yes you are correct charlesw88.......way too early to tell.

Its hard to compare the games with a common opponent (Johnson Central) because its 2 different situations. Boyle Co. played JC the first game and had to make a long trip to Johnson Co. Bell played JC after having 4 tough games in a row and had to make a long trip to Log Mountain. Plus sometmes games are about matchups. One thing that was obvious was that Bell's balance offensively caused problems for JC.

Favorite? Yeah.

Clear cut favorite? Absolutely not.

Not to mention....we are already a much different team than the one that played at JC.

After seeing both teams play I would give the advantage to Bell County. I say that with a little reservation, however, as Boyle seems to be playing better since I saw them against Franklin County. To me the biggest advantage to Bell County over Boyle County is that the game would be played on Log Mountain. Two years ago Bell won at home, last year Boyle won at home. Both games were down-to-the-wire, either team can win type games.

I agree.

I'll add that Boyle has yet to play their best football.

Too early to tell at this point and time. Boyle is the defending champs until they are beaten.:thumb:

Boyle County played JC the first game of the season, so perhaps Boyle County has improved since then. Also, football is a game of match-ups and perhaps JC matched up a bit better against Boyle County than they did against Bell County. Maybe Boyle County will match up better against Bell County...

I wasn't saying that. I was just saying that Bell County was not the clear cut favorite. I will say that right now at this point of the season, Bell County does deserve the #1 ranking in 4A.

Favorite? Yeah.

Boyle #1 until they are defeated.
