Biggest Crowd I've Seen at a High School Game

Featured Replies

I went up to Dayton, OH tonight to watch Centerville and Alter play. The schools are about 4 miles apart. Centerville is D1 with 3000+ kids. Alter is D4 with about 800. The two schools haven't met in over 20 years.

10k people at the game not counting the people who couldn't get in that sat on the hill.

5k there 2 hours before kickoff.

Impressive.

All of that and you aren't going to tell us how the game was.....

Where was the game held?

My uncle coached at Centerville for years. Beautiful campus.

Game was OK. Centerville is huge with lots of talent.

DT going to Ohio State.

DE going to WVU.

LB going to IU.

RB going to U of Buffalo.

Alter had trouble getting any offense going.

I left late in the game and Centerville was up 24 7.

Impressive indeed. Alter is always a power in their division (I think they've bounced around a bit between D-III and IV over the years). They are always one of the better schools in the state in their division.

Centerville was once known more for soccer than football, but they've had more than their fair share of good D-I football teams over the years. This year, they are clearly the best team in Dayton, and COULD be the Region IV rep in the D-I state semis. A lot of football to be played between now and then, but they are really good.

What's the largest crowd they've had for a Trinty-St. X game? Or are you just talking about crowds at a high school facility?

38,500 is the largest crowd I can remember for a Saint Xavier/Trinity game, but they have been over 30,000 for at least the last 12-15 years.

Good job with the count. YOu have great institutional knowledge. Our "little tussle" is something indeed.

I'm talking about games I've actually attended. X/T probably get 30,000.

Deal.

A friend of mine from college is a teacher and assistant coach at Centerville. The school, stadium and all facilities are extremely nice. That's definitely an incredible school up there. That football field is really something. I've never been to a game there and I'm very jealous that you got to see Centerville vs. Alter. I have several friends that went to both.

I know it probably wasn't really 40K, but didn't they announce it as so once?
