Highlands travels to Boone County Friday night for the Bluebirds' first game away from David Cecil Memorial Stadium. Class 5A Highlands is 4-0 with wins against DuPont Manual, Ryle, Beechwood and Withrow (Ohio). Class 6A Boone County is 2-1 with wins against Henry Clay and Scott County, and a loss against Anderson (Ohio). Last year, Highlands beat Boone County 36-14. Who wins and by how much?

Highlands puts em' in the box and forces Boone to throw (which is not their comfort zone) and rolls in this one. If Boone can't avoid the 3 and outs, their D gets tired and the Birds roll big time. 56-0.

Bird speed on defense will be too much. Towles is coming into his own and after watching him run vs Withrow I think it will be very hard for Boone to stop him.

Birds are very comparable to Anderson, OH...a little better, but still comparable. I'd expect a similar score again this week as Boone's loss last night.

I was recently on the CalPreps website and looking at their information about the nation's longest current win streaks. Highlands, with 32 straight wins, is presently tied for the 4th longest active win streak.

 

1. Plymouth (NH) - 57 games

2. Reidsville (NC) - 52 games

3. West Rowan (NC) - 34 games

4. Highlands (KY) - 32 games

4. Alcoa (TN) - 32 games

4. Phoebus (VA) - 32 games

 

Another team, Borden (TX) also has 32 straight wins, but it's in 6-man football, not 11-man football.

Boone gave up 3 TD's in the second quarter I heard (not good), but only gave up 1 TD the whole second half to Anderson. I wouldn't count Boone out so soon. sounds like Boone is a lot better than last year. Good luck to both teams.

I suppose one "wild card" in this game is the fact that it will be the first away game for Highlands this year. In fact, I believe this will be the first time HHS will compete in any football-related activities away from DCMS, since I'm pretty sure all the 7-on-7's were held at HHS this year, as was Highlands' sole preseason scrimmage against Trinity.
