Maybe these schools have same argument as in college sports, like BCS and RPI. If they beat Raceland they are supposed to and if they don't coach gets on hot seat early. Just a thought.

A few Ohio teams I like to see Raceland play

 

1-Ironton

2-Shadyside

3-Bellaire

Where are Shadyside and Bellaire? I'm not familiar with those two.

 

And the Ironton thing was pretty close to happening several years ago.

What you have written makes more sense. Paris is still a long drive from the other 3 teams you mentioned.

 

Definitely a long trip. That's part of the problem with only putting 32 teams in a class. You have to squeeze four together that don't necessarily fit.

I've heard that argument before, but I truly think it is a cop out. Raceland is a formidable opponent and should be seen as one by just about everyone.

Pretty sure Lawrence Co and Raceland will be playing again. It was probably the best respect from both sides rivalry I played in during high school. 44-43 game, 3-0 game and another barn burner.

 

There have defiantly been some great games in that series. Maybe it will happen again.

I would like to see that one again. Both schools have solid programs ,a great fan base, love of the game and respect for one another not to mention solid football traditions.

Ram, it sounds to me like some teams are wanting some easier wins. I would hate to see Greenup drop Raceland. I don't know much about the rivalry, but being an in-county game that's competitive I think it should be played every year. I guess you guys will have to go easier on the bigger schools in the area :lol:. Lawrence will be a good addition to the schedule if that happens though.

Bellaire and Shadyside are on the far East side on the Ohio/W.Va boarder.

I believe that the rumor that Greenup County is dropping Raceland from their schedule to be just that...RUMOR. I spoke with several booster parents last night and they had not heard anything about this...several calls will be made today to clarify.

Johnson Central is always looking for a close non district matchup. The two teams scrimmaged a couple of years ago and the gate was huge.
