If your school is looking for games next year put Raceland on your possible opponent list. It seems they are being dropped like "hot potatoes" from most of the areas schedules.

 

Rumor has it that Boyd County (4A) will not be renewing it's contract with Raceland (1A) after this season. Why is that? Don't give me the district games are unknown, everyone pretty much knows what their district consists of and how many open dates they will have. And it's not due to lack of competition, Raceland has beat Boyd County the last two years. Or, could that be the problem.

 

Now, rumor has it that after this season Greenup County (4A) will also be dropping Raceland from it's schedule. This is even more shocking then the Boyd County game being dropped. This is a huge money game. Both schools being in the same county and only 15 miles apart. Big gate for this one. Again lack of competitive game is not a factor, the series stands at 13-11. What's the problem here?

 

I don't know Ashland's (5A) stance yet, but I would not be surprised to see this game go away as well. Raceland was originally put on the schedule as a "warm up game" to open the season, but has now become a very competitive game, with Raceland holding a three game win streak until last year. Now Ashland has a two game win streak started. Would this be a good time to get out? Again, competitive game with a very large gate and the whole series is home for Ashland, no away games to worry about.

 

Why the dropping of Raceland as an opponent? Good quality opponent. A team that travels very well, you are going to have a crowd when you host Raceland. Does it only come down to "they might beat us"? Because I am having a problem finding another reason.

 

Raceland doesn't nomally play 1A teams except for district play, but it looks like that may be where Raceland is headed since the bigger schools no longer wish to play Raceland.

When I was in school, we played Paintsville (I know they aren't what they used to be) and Mason Co. every year.

Believe it or not, I am aware that we are talking to them, too. That doesn't mean the 2 sides will get it done, but they are looking into it.

I say we go across the pond, those teams would love to give it a shot with our good win totals. Coalgrove, Symms Valley, and Rock Hill would all be choices.

Pretty sure Lawrence Co and Raceland will be playing again. It was probably the best respect from both sides rivalry I played in during high school. 44-43 game, 3-0 game and another barn burner.

I'm not so sure. You may be right, but the collection of 32 teams assigned to 1A might make for some rearranging. I'm kind of thinking Paintsville will join Paris, Raceland, and Fairview. I think Nicholas County could be moved. But who knows.

What you have written makes more sense. Paris is still a long drive from the other 3 teams you mentioned.
