I know Dave Campbell to be a great coach who will do things the right way and his hard work will translate into a successful program over time. A few observations: Football in Northern KY is pretty stout. You can be a decent football team and not go 500. Scott needs to weaken the schedule and have a winning season or two to generate some excitement and get kids out for the team. The feeder program is vitally important and isn't in place the way it needs to be yet (Dave will get this fixed).

100% agree with weakening the schedule to generate a feeling of success. I've been saying that for years. Open enrollment is not hurting Scott and Holmes is not part of the Kenton County School districts open enrollment.

I agree with this statement; and no way they should cancel the football program.

Scott is lucky to have Dave Campbell as their head coach.

Cancelling football at Scott would be a cotastrophy. That program may not produce many winning seasons, but it does produce many fine young men who go on to have a sucessful life as an adult. Albeit all coaches and players like winning, and do not get what I am saying wrong, winning is important, but we must look at the positive impact the young men from Scott High School have had playing football. Many young men who have played are now productive individuals in society.

 

Why is Scott losing on the field? They are losing because it has become expected and accepted at Scott High School to lose. They will not win until the players themselves have bought into what their coach is teaching and preaching. I could care less who is the head coach there, you need a sound system all the way from the top at the administration all the way down to the Ball Boy on Friday nights. I do not know what goes on inside the walls at Scott High School, but this is just the view of one guy outside looking in. So to place blame on any administrator, player(s), or coach is useless at this point. When all the above happen and they are still losing, then maybe this is a valid idea. But until then, quit trying to make something work that will not work until you have all the pieces in place.

The program add the primary middle school (Woodland) has also struggled, not allowing many of the kids to regularly feel the joys of winning. Start at the 6th grade level with your best coaches- not the only one that will accept the job. Challenge those coaches to focus 110% on the fundamentals and work within the school to build some enthusiasm for the program (tailgating? bon fires?)

I have also heard very positive things about Coach Campbell but at the end of the day you have to produce. So if we assume it is not Coach Campbell it has to be something.

I sure wish they would drop football. It would be one less required district opponent and wasted game on the schedule for Highlands. If you are not committed to compete, then quit.
