Sheldon Clark plays new school Collins tonight to try and get a second top ten win. They probably will be an underdog. I guess Somerset will be ranked #1 next week.
There is a big difference in playing the #10 team in 1A and winning and losing to the #13 team in 6A. Central really challenges themselves early which pays off in the end. Central still deserves the #1 spot but Somerset needs to move up from #9. The Jumpers will have a good test with Southwestern next week.

That's a good point. I think Somerset is a capable top five team in 3A, though. And they will likely move up accordingly. But you are right, Central should remain.

Why should we be surprised? Class 2A was stronger, top to bottom, than 3A last year ... 3A isn't a very strong group.
I agree that 3A was probably the weakest class last year and are probably not that strong again this year, but we will see as the season progresses.

Agree...very strong case again to be made for less classes, but that discussion is over.

That's a big question, big.

I agree. It's one thing to lose some linemen. It's quite another to lose all five starters. I think the #9 ranking is justified.

One of two things will happen it seems...either they've got 5 guys ready to step in and keep the ball rolling, or casual football fans in Somerset will be trying to figure out why their returning QB, WR's and RB aren't the same offense they've grown accustomed to watching.

In fairness, I can understand the Somerset perspective as well. As a fan, if you return a lot offensive skill players, you don't expect a big dip in offense. You expect your team to find guys who can adequately replace the losses on the o-line.

But, fortunately they're in a weak class. That helps.

I think the top 10 improve on their records next week. I think they go 8-1 (no comment on Tilghman because I know nothing about Gateway, MO). But, 11-20 will go 2-7 IMO. If the top 10 come out of next week with another losing week then they will begin to make the case as the weakest class.

That case is already well into the making ...

I agree that 3A is 1 of the bottom 2 classes, but to be the weakest you have to compare 1A and 3A. It's too early in the season to make that comparison. When comparing the 2 classes now, I believe 3A is better.
