"Mythical" KY prep football champions

It is my understanding that "mythical" prep football champions were crowned by Litkenhous and the Lexington Herald-Leader before 1957, which is when the KHSAA set up official football championship games. Does anyone have a list of these "mythical" football champions prior to 1957? Did any other 'agencies' rank teams, besides Litkenhous and the Lexington Herald-Leader?

Not sure how the Championship was determined but Flaget claimed it a couple of years prior to 1957

The football team won the school's first state championship in 1949....Flaget's sports teams were highly competitive throughout the 1950s and 1960s, especially in football, in which the Braves won state championships in 1952, 1958, 1961, and 1967.

Didn't they play football prior to 1959 in Nky?

Apparently not well enough to impress the Litkenhous folks!

Seriously, could it be that some of the big names in northern Kentucky played several games against Ohio teams, thus not giving them many points in the ranking system? Just a guess.

Well, I've got someone that will argue with the 1943 Mythical Championship. Male wasn't even in the mix. It was Highlands vs. Ashland. Highlands won and I have the Ky State champs patch to prove it.
