July 1, 201016 yr Why oh why does Brandon do that????? New pitcher, swing at the first pitch and ground out. Well, guess it is Coco time! (shaking in my boots)

July 1, 201016 yr Shame Wood did not get the win today, but more important to start the road trip out with a 'W'
July 1, 201016 yr Definitely nice to beat the Cubs, especially in Chicago, and even more so to start the long road trip. Very happy with Wood's performance. I was saying he should have been done after seven innings and not come out for the eighth, but oh well. Wish he could have gotten the win, but still a very nice outing. Let's get them again tomorrow.
July 1, 201016 yr Doesn't count as a "comeback" win, but blowing that lead in the 8th and then blowing a chance to win it in the 9th only to win it in the 10th. Anyone who has watched this team everyday already knows how resilient they are, but my goodness. As for the Cubs, well, they are the Cubs. I said it when Lee was at the plate in the 8th. They don't call him DP Lee for nothing

I didn't get to see the game, but I will watch it here shortly. I'm interested in hearing why you think he should have been done. They said his pitch count was only around 80 pitches entering the bottom of the 8th.

They said his pitch count was only around 80 pitches entering the bottom of the 8th. It wasn't cause his pitch count was bad, and his performance definitely wasn't either. I just don't think its good to push the young pitcher like that and expect him to be able to finish the game. I would personally rather go with Rhodes in the 8th to set up Coco. I'm not saying that is the right decision, nor do I make the big bucks to make those decisions, its just what I would have done. Who knows, you bring in Rhodes and he could pitch bad and we lose the game, ya never know. But I was happy with Wood's 7 innings and wouldn't have pushed him farther. Plus, usually the third or fourth time through the lineup I would think batters would start picking up on what you're tossing a little better. I don't know, it was just my thoughts.
