He stopped playing with them after last week-end. He must have realized he likely wouldn't start and there would be competition for playing time. No way would he be the "go-to stud" on Lex Cath with Scott Schuette, Taylor Martin, and others.

Interesting so he sits out his frosh yr only to leave this summer? imo he was the best offensive option they had next to Seth and thats with no disrespect to Martin and Schuette who both can play.

I heard the Morton news last night as well. I wuld assume if it is true this had something to do with Beckham leaving. Also wouldn't he have to sit out another year again?

Since he didn't play varsity last year, he may not have to sit out. I know he lives in the Bryan Station district (that's why he cost Dunbar victories two years ago when he played there out of district). I guess he's turning into a nomad as this would be his 4th different school in 4 years, if this is true.

Hunter Porter, Patrick Keller, Craig Floyd, Brian Woomer, Jack Whittman and Seth. Along with Schuette and Martin that makes at least 8 other players competing. The point is he would not be handed a starting position because of his "reputation". He may end up "all-world" at Bryan Station, but so far he had not looked any better than several of the other players(one game doesn't always tell the whole story). Apparently his father has had a lot to do with "shopping him around" which is too bad, because he is a nice kid and a good player. Also, Schuette and Martin are much more efficient offensively than Seth. If Seth learned to distribute the ball better, he would be a much better player.

They definitely have depth and some long kids. Who is the small PG with the shaggy hair? He seemed to have a nice shot when open and handled the ball fairly well against the J-Town pressure when I watched. Muncie?

I think his name is Ross Muncie, maybe. He's a heck of a point guard. We played against them in middle school and he always had his way against us. Nice shot and nice handles like you said. I haven't had a chance to see him at the high school level yet but he has always had a great skill set.

To Martin and Schuette? Word has it that there is and has been a rift at LC for several years. The kids who come up through the middle school program, vs those that appear during high school....Sanford, Beckham, Morton...it is not necessarily the easiest situation for any of the kids. Going to NJ is a great option for Beckham, and I hope he has great success.

That's kind of funny they have a rift considering there is no Lexington Catholic Middle School.

By the way, just out of curiosity....does anyone know this kid, point guard, lefty who played in the LexCath middle school program as a 6th grader I know for sure, but I am unsure of where he played his 7th and 8th grade year(most likely still LexCath but I am unsure). He should be a freshman this year if I am not mistaken. I think he is with the Hoop Dreams organization. Smooth kid, nice jumper, excellent ball handling skills and court vision that is superior than most kids in his age group. He was at KBA this past weekend just hanging out(with a ball) and was shooting around when he got a chance(making most of his 3 pointers) and I never got a chance to get his name. Does anyone know who I am talking about and will he be playing for Lexington Catholic this year? He seemed to know most of the people at KBA from the Lexington area and I know I saw him chatting up Jaylen. This kid has a very nice game.

You are right they do not have a middle school. That is why I called it middle school program, as you referred as well in your very next post. It is made up of players middle school aged, many, but not all attending parochial schools such as Mary Queen, Good Shepard, etc. K - 8.

The underlined is why I think it is ironic that there is a rift. It's no secret that some of the middle school aged boys in the program are auditioning for a spot at the high school and on the high school roster whether they are officially affiliated with LexCath or not.
