How is this NOT Recruiting???

ALL grade school students are invited onto St. X's sidelines for State Championship games?

I have coached for a catholic grade school for years and played for one and never has that happened. That is a flat out false statement.

Woodsrider,

I agree IN is out of balance, I believe there are many Hoosiers who would like to see it fixed there too.

I think it would be an easier fix for KY.

There is no truth to that garbage letter from a jealous out of state AD, who THINKS that the kids belong to him, THEY DON'T! They belong to the parents! As was stated this guy had OPINIONS, not PROOF, and he soon may be paying for his letter soon.

IF, and I do mean IF this guy had REAL PROOF, he would drive to Lexington as fast as he could and show the proof to the KHSAA. The FACT that he hasn't done so should be a loud and clear sign he has no proof!

I agree 100%. Strike3, he may be a downright awesome person, but he excersised extremly poor judgement with this letter, and I for one have grown tired of the mindset that, because where parents choose to reside, that local school thinks that they OWN that child....What if all those kids went to Jeff, didn't like what was going on with the football program, and just decided not to play. Then none of us would have the benefit of watching these talented individuals develop as student athletes.

I have a question...

How many schools have a "cut" policy for their football programs?

Ours does. You have a cut and you put a bandaid on it. :p:D

ROCKMOM,

I don't think that any high school football team makes cuts.

Consider that both Trinity and St. Xavier already have 1,500 to 1,600 boys.

Nice guy or not, he may want to verify his facts or else look stupid cause his arguement to lose quite a bit of strenght.

Both T and X have around 1,400. It has been quite a while since X used to surpass 1,500 students. In thoses days Trinity had around 1,100.

Just wondering. Thanks for the info. :thumb:

What do the bigger schools that approach 100 kids do when they get too many? Do they double up on jersey #'s?

I know X & T have some players with same number.

I'll never forget getting all excited because I was watching a game & #80 caught a great pass, and I thought it was my son....until someone pointed to him standing on the sidelines.

Cheaters... :irked:

Seriously, my mom would've never been able to spot me. She always used to say, "Everyone looks the same in their uniforms." Well, yeah.

My son has a distinctive way of standing. Once I spotted him, I never made that mistake again.

Here is my opinion....

I've had the honor and privilege to get to know Coach Branch over the years when at Seneca, he is a class act and one of the best people I have met in or out of coaching. If players attended Seneca because of "his name", than in my opinion it was to play for the man, who has a very impressive playing resume, rather than him recruiting them.

He has dismissed players off the Seneca team, from discipline to other...he has more integrity than most people I have met. He practices with a passion and loves teaching the game. He finished the season at Seneca last year, with different players he began with, after dismissing several. He cared more about those players and his team, learning life lessons than his record.

He's been in my home, is welcome in my home and I'm proud to call him my friend and NO ONE....should be attacking this man's character....NO ONE.

I take great exception to anyone questioning this man's integrity. :thumb:

Seems to me I saw either on this board or another board back around the time that Tony sent the email in question that he has a couple of kids that attend Male. Does anyone know if this is true or not, and if so, I wonder if that's what precipitated the email to his fellow Jefferson County comrades.

There is a Tony Branch that plays football for Male HS. Does anyone know if he is related to Tony Branch the AD at Jeff?
