May 20, 201016 yr This one deserves its own thread... John Calipari tells Andy Katz (who is quickly becoming Mr. Exclusive for UK news) overnight that he is looking to add one more player. Any thoughts on who that may be?
May 20, 201016 yr Has to be Moultrie. I think at this point playing time is mostly spoken for, so he's probably just looking for bodies for the future.

May 20, 201016 yr Seems like the smart money is on Moutrie. I don't know a lot about him, but I think we now have 3 1 and dones for this year...so should be a good pick up.
May 20, 201016 yr I hope it's Moultrie, too. I don't know how good of a player he is, but from what I understand he's talented & could provide some consistency within the program by being there this year & playing next... Then again, with Cal, he may go pro after a redshirt year. :lol:
May 20, 201016 yr Why? Because the player UK brings in this year, Moultrie or whoever won't be as good as the player they could use the scholarship on next year. I'm not counting on alot of players leaving after next year. There is a good chance 2-3 leave early, but why automatically assume they will and get another big when one isn't needed? Miller was supposedly going to get minutes at the 4, so UK has 5 guys they are willing to play at the 4-5 spots. That's enough, Cal doesn't play alot of people off his bench big minutes.

That's fair, but by my count, there are still two scholarships available. Say Moultrie takes one. Still one free, and I'm sure Cal sits on it. After next season, we will presumably lose Harrelson, Knight and Kanter, making 4 scholarships available for 2011-2012. Two are spoken for with Gilchrist and Teague, meaning Cal can still pick two more guys. And let's be honest- Cal picks guys. Plus Moultrie would be an experienced big man in '11-'12. That could be pretty valuable if we're looking to make a championship run.
May 20, 201016 yr I wouldn't worry about the future and the number of scholarships we have. Cal will always have the number of scholarships available to recruit the guys he needs to win big. I don't see Cal ever being held hostage by someone who can't play (ie Brandon Stockton, Carrier ect...) he will show those guys the door if need be. As a UK fan, I hope we have 12 on scholarship this year, and only lose Harrelson. I can handle only signing two guys for '11.
May 20, 201016 yr And limit the scholarships for 2011? Isn't that class suppose to be superior to this one? UK could have an epic class next year on paper. This class is great, but next years could be epic rankings-wise. We think 3 five stars and 2 four stars are nice, but doesn't UK have a great shot at many of the top 10-15 players in the 2011 class? I just don't see taking a guy that's going to eat a scholarship of a more talented guy. Cal can and will get a better player instead of Moultrie or whoever. I say let's call it a day and get 5 of the top 10 players in the country next year.

Now that he's here I don't see the reason for slumming and wasting a 'ship on a guy that will constantly be overrecruited. Not having 5 or 6 ships next year would be a huge mistake IMO.

Even if he does sign one more guy, I am sure he will find away to get all the guys he still would want for next year, so I wouldn't really worry about it. Our only worry should be about if he leaves or not.
