December 28, 201015 yr Maybe I'm just weird but the girlfriend had me watching 'Despicable Me' with her the other day and I found it quite funny. Normally I'm not a big fan of little kid movies.

December 28, 201015 yr Boondock Saints/II, both are full of a lot of "R" rated stuff. But I thought they were pretty good. Rewatched the three Jason Bournes with Mama who never had seen them and she liked them..."he fights like you do Honey".

Every time they use a certain 4 letter word, you have to take a drink...If you're lucky enough to make it through the entire movie, your liver will hate you. :lol: All good movies though AL. :thumb:

Not the best drinking experience I've had.

February 23, 201115 yr Author I watched a couple of excellent documentaries recently: I had always wondered how war photographers managed to get into places and situations where they can truly experience and photo-document the truth and the emotion of all the crazy things going in during and as the result of war and conflict. "War Photographer" explained that perfectly. If you have an hour and a half to spend, I'd highly recommend watching it.
February 23, 201115 yr I don't know if this counts, but I watched The Pillars of the Earth" series this week. I thought it was very well done, very true to the story. However, even at 8 hours, I still was disappointed that so much "10 years later" etc. had to be done to keep it even that short. I would love, love, love to have seen this continued over several seasons if they could have really delved in and captured all the complexities in that book.
February 23, 201115 yr Author "Restrepo" is a documentary made by two journalists embedded with a group of airborne infantrymen at an outpost in Afghanistan's Korengal valley...cited as the deadliest place on earth. A good friend of mine is an airborne Ranger and was in command of a company in the Kunar province while this was being filmed and asked me to buy him a copy once he got word of its release. It's a rather unsettling documentary to watch, but I would strongly suggest that anyone with an honest interest in the conflict in Afghanistan watch it. I can't post the trailer, due to language content, but to it if anyone is interested in checking it out.
February 23, 201115 yr Just watched Stone with Edward Norton, Robert DeNiro, and Mila Jovovich. Really good film IMO. Norton was once again amazing.
February 24, 201115 yr I bought a buch of Eastwood movies and just saw The Beguiled, uncut, and man it was weird. Saw Casino a couple of days ago. Hombre last nite, One of my favorite all times. Going to see the new Liam Neilson movie saturday. Coogans Bluff tomorrow.

February 24, 201115 yr Saw the Adam Sandler movie. Funnier than I expected plus Brooklyn Decker and Jennifer Aniston looked really good in their bikinis. Formulaic but if your expectations were low you were pleasantly surprised.
April 25, 201115 yr Author Went back and watched Everything Is Illuminated again. It was very quirky, but also very poignant and enjoyable.
