June 20, 201115 yr Author Watched the The Wild and Wonderful Whites yesterday. I'm not sure I put this in the "good" movies category, but it was definitely interesting. I was completely blown away by it. I saw "The Dancin' Outlaw" years ago, and I honestly couldn't bring myself to watch "The Wild and Wonderful Whites". That kind of thing is honestly kind of painful for me to watch.
June 20, 201115 yr I can't decide if I want to put that in my queue or not. I'll be honest....I think the documentary was well made. And nothing in it was surprising to me, having experienced people similar to the Whites in parts of Kentucky, some my own family. But, as C_W_B says, it was painful to watch. I was really angry after watching it. Because the thing is, those people aren't living that way out of ignorance, but because they knowingly choose to be that way.

I do agree that at times it is very painful to watch...but well worth it in my opinion.
June 20, 201115 yr Ring one & two, with my son. "All Good Things" was OK, based on a true story. VirusX, about scientists who catch a virus and bad things are gonna happen, just got it a bit ago.

July 25, 201115 yr Author Watched a Gus Van Sant movie called Elephant over the weekend. It's based directly on the '99 Columbine massacre. Man did it ever leave a knot in my stomach... ...wow.

It was extremely good, and also extremely heart-wrenching.

October 16, 201114 yr I checked out Win Win last night. I think it did an excellent job of portraying the struggles we all face and the sometimes blurry line of what's right and wrong. Very touching story but not one that's in your face. Really enjoyed the acting by all involved as well. Also watched The Social Network finally. I felt it deserved all the hype it has gotten and was a really "cool" movie. Definitely one I'll watch again. Finally, I watched a documentary called Black Tar Heroin: The Dark End of the Street which is about five young adults who use black tar heroin in San Francisco. I believe it was made in the late '90's and it is a very powerful documentary though quite painful at times. It doesn't hold back in it's stark portrayal of the rapid degradation of their lives caused by heroin use.
