Summer 7 on 7 schedule

Featured Replies

Does anyone know when some of these matchups will take place and who is facing who?

I'd like to hear who the Bluebirds will be facing. They have 2 dynamite QB's in Junior Patrick Towles and Sophomore Donovan McCoy.

I heard earlier than Mason County would play Highlands 7 on 7; can anyone confirm?

Do all teams participate in the 7 on 7? If not, who are the teams that participate?

The coaches decide if they want to participate, the only team that comes to mind that hasn't participated the past couple years is Bellevue.

The great state of KY, has done away with 7 on 7 competition with other schools in the month of June. In an attempt to bring more "basketball" players out to football, they have given the month of June to basketball and said 7 on 7 can take place in July, right before the real football begins. Not a good decision!

Biggest mistake ever made. This July deal isn't worth crap.

But how do you really feel about it?:D

I belive that teams are allowed to wear full pads July 28 and dead period ends July 12. So teams can attend 7 on 7 for three weeks. It can hurt your team depending on how many scrimmages you have, if your team has two then your first scrimmage would be on August 13 for the teams that only have one then it would be on the 20. Lets not forget also that some kids play summer baseball and the move also benefits them.

Do we know if the KHSSA made the move or did the coaches and AD's vote on the change?

I agree,it really hurts football. Football is going to always be put on the back burner in KY. Kids should play other sports but when that sport is not in season they need to concentrate on football.

How does this hurt football?

Weight sessions missed for b-ball games , practice with the team , playing catch up when the summer baseball league is over. Makes them feel like they need to choose baseball or football. Alot of reps are missed with teammates that could benefit timing and jelling of a team.
