Up at 5:00AM to take mcdaughter to the NKY/Cincy airport; she went to Boston to visit mcson for a few days. Bummed around the Ohio Valley Antique Mall for a couple of hours and visited a couple of consignment shops. Back in Mason County at 3:00PM to the Lewisburg Fire Hall to vote.

I echo Hearsay and Leatherneck's sentiments, by the way.

I have come to terms with this. As an elected candidate, you are sworn to serve the entire population, not just the voting electorate. The fact that people are uninformed, and you KNOW that, must be taken into consideration when you act.

Democracy is "by the people and for the people," not merely "by the registered electorate and for the registered electorate." I know this sounds populist, but any candi9date who does not know that the mob is fickle should not be a candidate.

I encourage others to vote, even if uninformed, because to fail to do so tacitly consents to theri ignorance. I also encourage to vote because as a tag-line I add the names of the candidates that I want them to elect. If you know me, and trust me, and vote based upon my endorsement, then you are not really uninformed.

I like this. I like this a lot. Couldn't agree more.

If you don't vote because you are un-informed, then as someone un-informed you shouldn't be complaining about something you know nothing about.

Even though I respect the opinions of all 3 of you more than most I still disagree. I don't want fools voting only because someone told them to, simple as that. It may make me elitist or a condescending snob but I kind of figured that was my M.O. by now anyway. :D

No, I don't think you are elitist or a condescending snob. It is a perfectly valid view, one held by me until very recently. Ignorance shouldn't be in the voting booth, however, I believe it is incumbent upon me to be the person who makes others informed. Like anything else, if you want the work done it is best to do it yourself.

But I am.

They won't let me vote because I'm too stubborn to register as either Democrat or Republican. So this Independent voter will have to wait and vote for whatever is left in November.

This was my first experience with that and I have to admit that I was a little saddened knowing I couldn't vote.

That is the only reason I am registered Democrat. If not I would not have been able to vote in any of our local elections.

I voted always do and always will.

First, thank you for the compliment. I don't want fools or un-informed people voting either. Perhaps my message wasn't as clear as it should have been. I should have written that people need to get informed about the issues and the candidates and then make sure they vote. Or if you are not going to get informed, listen to the recommendations of people that you trust and are informed, and then vote.

Unfortunately, not enough people listened to my recommendations. My candidates went 1.5 to 4.5 last night. Steve Pendery won; Gayle Hoffman came in second (but the top two vote getters advance so she's still alive). I'd rather Grayson won, but to be honest with you, I can and will easily support Paul in the Fall. My other 3 recommendations went down in flames and that's a shame as I thought they were much, much better qualified than their opponents.

That is the only reason I am registered Democrat. If not I would not have been able to vote in any of our local elections.

I know I'm in the minority, but I simply refuse on principle to align myself with either party. And Kentucky needs to change the voting laws to let all voters vote in the primaries. It's an absolutely political strong-arming to force voters to register in one of the big 2, and I resent it. It's manipulation and ensures that Kentucky doesn't progress out of the partisan quagmire that it's stuck in. It not only eliminates a sector of the voting public, it eliminates the possibility that a candidate with a real alignment to a party not of the big 2 is effectively eliminated from running as a true alternative choice.

On a side note...I was glad to see Jack Conway advance. And I still have no idea who to vote for in the fall for Mayor.

But I am.

Nah...the Rockson's fiancee thought you were charming! You're really good at hiding your elitist and snobbish tendencies until people get to know you. :D

I think they should do away with primaries altogether and ease ballot restrictions. :D

That is good to know. I didn't want them to think that I was trying to push any particular music on them.

I am a charming elitist snob btw.
