Spurlocks daughter will be a pretty good player, S.C. will be glad to have her and don't think he had much of a choice but to leave at Hazard and I believe the same is true here in Clay County, even if they are supposed to be #1 in preseason rankings. It's win or go home at Clay and he has been sent on his way.

Dont count out a former coach coming back. More likely than you think.

Looks like Coach Wright(South Laurel) and Coach Holland(Hazard) could be two coaches on the list, along with Shannon Hoskins, Robert Marcum and Tim Parks, former players at Clay. Whoever they go after, being ranked #1 next season and all the history at Clay could be great hiring points. Will be very interesting to see what direction that Clay County chooses to go, experience or former player.

Assistant Coach Jerry Combs should and will be the next head coach at Clay County. There's something to say about paying dues..Combs is paid in full and should get his shot.

I'd be very surprised if Jerry Combs gets the job... unless Coach Keith is his top assistant:sssh:

I can't see them paying what it would take to get either of those guys. Neither would want to live in the shadow that Bobby Keith casts in Tiger country and have both built their reputations primarily in one county (Wright in Laurel Co and Holland in Perry Co). Just my take, but I can't see either one leaving unless it is a pretty sweet deal they are offered to leave their current positions.

He is interested in being the next gov. Running a state has less stress than coaching Clay County.

How much Clinton paying you to make that post? Messer has done a great job there and put that program back on the map in the 4th region which is usually pretty strong. Lots of schools would be lucky to get him, including Clay County.

 

He is a young coach and wonder how many schools that have some of the best thought about them when they hired them young? Wonder what Steve Wrights first school would pay to have him back?

I agree, Messer is an excellent coach and very well thought of in Clinton County. I don't think he would leave for Clay with talent Clinton has coming.

I can't see very many people choosing Clinton over Clay, especially someone from Clay.
