Will the KHSAA ever consider Volleyball for boys?

Will the KHSAA ever consider Volleyball for boys?

Currently volleyball is in season right now in the state of Ohio. Would Kentucky ever consider expanding this sport to the males?

I would think it would cause some title 9 issues to add another boy's sport.

Can a male play on the female volleyball team if it is not offered for boys at his school ?

I would love to see that can of worms opened.

Me too.

I doubt we'll see vball for the boys. There is no feeder system today. Even in Ohio there aren't many teams and either Elder/Moeller/St X wins the state tourney playing against each other.

As to the Title IX question I don't think adding a sport would be an issue by itself. I think its more of an issue of how many girls have the opportunity to participate. There are 3 tests (don't remember what they are) and as long as you meet one I think you're in compliance.

With that said, its a great sport to watch when its played well.

How is softball looked at ?

Is that technically considered girls baseball ? Or is it a complete different sport than baseball ?

Men's softball was not offered while I was in high school...

Can I ask why it would matter how its looked at? I'm not following.

I'm just wondering if I could have played girls softball in highschool.

Men's Volleyball is awesome. I would be in full support of this, but I just don't see it happening any time soon.

There is a parochial grade school league for boys in Northern Kentucky. I believe ST. Pius just won the season ending tournament this weekend.

There isn't a feeder system for girls football either, but they are still permitted to play in high school

Just saying.............

You are right, the common misconception is that there has to be a girl's sport for every boy's sport, and that is not the case, it comes down to the money being spent on girl's sport versus boy's sports and comparable facilities for both.

This would hurt a lot of small schools football and soccer numbers.

Which is why most schools (especially noticeable in college) have more girls sports that boys sports. The expense of football far outweighs anything on the female side.
