As stated earlier by Jack of all Trades and in the Enquirer, the 2 girls treated and released were the only ones wearing seat belts. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families. Scares the heck out of me having a teenager with a drivers license at my house!

April 17, 201016 yr Is NDA the sister school to Covington Catholic? Unofficially yes. Most families that send a boy to CCH will send their daughter to NDA. The two schools are across Dixie Highway from each other.
April 17, 201016 yr I can't even imagine what the girls families are going through at this point. My daughter played select soccer for several years with the Russo girls and Jordan Zumdick. Very sweet young ladies, to the say the least. My heart goes out to all of their families and I will keep praying for all of them.

The AL newspapers keep changing their stories. I read that the only fatality was the only one not ejected, but that has since changed. Sad situation. I heard that, as of last night, one of the girls who was taken to the hospital via air care had regained consciousness.
April 17, 201016 yr What a nightmare! None of us are immune to such a tragedy - could happen anywhere - spring break, or just down the road. . . But it is all the more horrific to have occurred in this manner. I think I'll go give my kids a hug (and remind them to wear their seat belts.) I cannot begin to imagine what those families are going through . . . God Bless the young lady who lost her life, prayers for the rest of the girls and all of their families. Such sad news! "There but for the grace of God. . ."

April 17, 201016 yr Most recent news that I have seen from NKY.com As of Friday night, two of the young women, 18-year-old Krista Noll and 17-year-old Jessica Russo, were listed in critical condition at Huntsville Hospital. Catherine Ammerman was listed in serious condition and Megan Downing in fair condition, the hospital spokeswoman said. Across town in another hospital, Jordan Zumdick was listed in fair condition at 10 p.m., a hospital spokeswoman from Athens Limestone Hospital said. Two others, Katherine Russo and Megan Berberich, were treated and released. Police believe they were the only two wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash, and said they were the only two not ejected from the vehicle.

I agree with you, but this accident could have happened on the way home from the movies or such here in NKY, too. In fact, NDA (the school itself) is perched on a hill above an infamous stretch of I -75, otherwise known as "death hill". , NDA drivers successfully handle that all of the time. However, the growing trend of sending our minor and barely legal children on spring break for a week of freedom and fun in another state is disturbing. . .
April 17, 201016 yr Author This group of NDA students were some of the schools best athletes and best students. It is easy to see the trust and faith their parents placed in their ability to handle this trip. Unfortunately this tradgedy occurred and several are still in need of your continued prayers. Parents and other supportive people are now in Alabama and hopefully more positive news will be coming, but the best course of action for the rest of us to hope and pray for the best. Several still remain in ICU and will be there for some extended time. My heart bleeds for these families and I wish I could do more.
