I hope it shakes out that way. I said last year that 2011-2012 should be the year, but this year could have been, and next year may be close as well. We get the class we are capable of this year, and get a couple to stay to mix with the 2011 guys, then It should be easy pickings April 2012.

I don't think a 2011-2012 championship would be out of the question. Miller and Liggins would be seniors, with maybe Knight, Poole, Kanter, Glichrist, and hopefully Quincy Miller, Marquis Teague, Terrence Jones, CJ Leslie, Doron Lamb, etc.

Jones and Knight are one and done. Kanter isn't a sure thing there, but very well could be as well. Not saying Jones will pick UK, just saying if he does he's not around for 11-12.

 

On the flip side Cal is very likely to land at least 4 and maybe 5 top 15-20 guys for 2011 including 3 of the top 5. How this class rounds out will be a big factor in a title run the next year...

This is amazing and it's just hitting me. I'm just realizing this: It's epic enough for schools to get the top recruit in a class. We're getting 2 in one day and no one is even making a huge huge deal out of it because it's what we EXPECT as Big Blue Nation. People can rip Calipari for his one and done type of recruiting and coaching, but when you criticize him for that, you're basically criticizing him for bringing in too good of talent. I'm not complaining. He's bringing in talent, sending them off, and bringing in the best players in each class. Good for him.

 

We are all very, very pleased this is coming to fruition, but honestly, my excitement has subsided somewhat. I have been hearing Gilchrist a done deal for over a year, and Knight for almost the same time period. I think we are all very happy, but it's just not anything new. Cal gets in with these top players early on, and knows how to close the deal. That's why we love him. Tomorrow's announcements are more formality. I am sure Cal knew these guys were coming for a very long time.

They weren't but they were clearly the best freshmen in their respective classes IMO. I think that's what he meant.

Which goes to show you that not all recruiting rankings are the end all be all...as fans, many get to excited over the #...and Wall and Cousins will only make that worse at UK...they aren't all going to pan out. See Felipe Lopez, Rod Rhodes, Chris Burgess, etc...
