Let me rephrase. I am asking how TOG is using the term not what the official definition is.

 

For example in the NC game Siemer was 1/4. Reese shows as 4 PA with 1 HBP. So did he have 5 PAs even though Siemer only had 4?

 

From the NCC thread, Siemer had the following:

PA= Plate Apperance (not AB's) 1 hit (if it's a double, triple or HR I will make a note of it but if it's a base hit, I will just show it as a hit) the K = Strike out.

 

So Siemer in the NCC game had 4 PA 4 AB 1 hit and 1 K. To save me time, I don't post the AB's, as it just takes me far too much time to do so.

No I'm pretty sure TOG means he came up 4 times, 1 HBP, meaning he gets 3 ABs.

I honestly don't think some realizes the time it takes to post what I do. I go directly to the games from work, score the games, come home eat dinner and then add up my book and post. Usually I don't get done until sometimes around 10pm or later as I also keep my own stats for myself and for the parents of CovCath. All of my posts, all of my stats and pictures from Don Martin and others I like of the different games, I add the pictures to my BGP's post to add some flavor to them and I put all of this on a CD and give it to the players as a memento of their baseball season. Why do this? Because I have nothing to show from my years of playing baseball at CovCath and I would have loved to have something to show my daughter and maybe one day a grand child. The kids seem to enjoy it, the parents tell me thanks and Coach Eck puts up with me.

 

Quite frankly, it would be much easier to just not post a word on BPG's and sometimes I think I am a just plain stupid for doing so! Heck, my wife thinks I am crazy for spending the time I do posting.

Well she does read off my stats to me, to make it easier to post to my .xls file, but..... I don't try to push her.:scared:

You could get a laptop for a couple hundred of dollars these days and get free software to keep the stats to take to every game. Just don't go to PeeWee's for a few times and save up for a new present for yourself. You deserve it TOG.

Clyde it takes a lot of time to type this all out! I use PA = Plate Appearances not AB meaning = At Bats. All you have to do is subtract the walks etc. from the PA's to get the AB's. It's quicker for me, to just type PA's.

 

Now if you want to donate to me a laptop and the software, I can do it much quicker but..... I don't have the $$$$$.....

 

Awe, c'mon TOG, just get PeeWee's to donate it for you. With all that advertising you are giving him, he should be more than happy.

Thanks Clyde - Great to know - so is this telling me that only 14 guys have come to the plate thusfar this year? I would have hoped that more guys are getting experience, esp against a team like McNick. Personally I would almost rather see a loss in that game, if it meant getting good experience for the younger guys

I'm pretty sure the coaching staff isn't worried about next year. This is Cov Cath man!! They're playing for today, not tomorrow. Besides, as someone mentioned earlier, they're not even 10 games into the season yet. 5 weeks left. Give these older kids a chance to get on a roll. They have put the time in so they deserve the shot.

Out of the 14, 5 of the players listed have fewer than 10 AB's apiece so not a lot of AB's for the players at the bottom of the roster.
