Nets to offer 12 - 15 Million to Coach K

I don't think that it fits his personality either. I hope that he would choose to stay at Duke, and I am sure he will be remembered at one of the best college coaches ever.

And like someone already posted...he doesn't really need that kind of money at this point in his career.

Need and want CAN be two different things though....you are talking about generation changing money...i still don't think he will go though. Just is an amazing amount of money.

He was very well liked by the biggest names in the game as the Olympic coach in 08, so maybe he fits the mold better than everyone thinks...:idunno:

Honestly, I don't see him taking an NBA job.

Who would Duke target to replace him on the slim chance he would go?

This Russian guy is going to be a lot of fun out in Jersey.

Johnny Dawkins would burn every piece of furniture he owned if Coach K left...

Honestly, I don't know who Duke would target... It's impossible for me to picture anybody else coaching that team. Jay Wright maybe?

Didn't Coach K turn down big time money to coach the Lakers? I can't see him going to New Jersey.

I think he turned down about $4-5 million per year for the Lakers job. Situation is different, and that is some unbelievable money. I don't think he takes it.

However, he has accomplished all that one can possibly accomplished in college and there is no college that can afford to pay that kind of money. I just think he has to love his current situation and if I were betting, I would say he says no thanks. I don't know that I could turn it down, but I am not in his situation.

I think a Duke win tonight makes him consider it.

I think so too...I'd still be suprised, but i've been suprised before.

I think a Duke win tonight makes him consider it.

I agree, especially if that number is correct- how can anyone pass on $12-$15 million per year?

SportCenter just said Coach K. talked to Chris Sheridan, and that he told him he, "wouldn't be interested in the job at all."

I agree. Heck, even with a loss, his career puts him among the best ever. 4 titles would tie him with Rupp. I think he will consider it, but I don't see him taking it.

Having been an olympic coach, I think he could do it. I just don't think he leaves his current situation. But $12-15 million a year, would have to make you at least stop and check it out.

That means he's definitely leaving.

"Wouldn't be" means "I'm not interested in taking it, because I've already signed the contract so I don't need to be."
