Defensively, and I don't know that "by far" is accurate. There are a couple of catchers that are substantially better hitters than Liggett.

Pugh I would agree with, but also Sam came a long way toward becoming a better hitter last summer. Defensively, I don't believe anybody is close.

Pugh and Dunaway are much stronger hitters than Liggett. I would also submit that Hoskins is a better hitter - certainly on par with Liggett. I absolutely agree that Liggett is the top defensive catcher, just not quite by the same margin as you.

In regard to the actual game ... Highlands has lost 2 in a row now.

Conner handled them easily ... and it looked like Beechwood did as well.

 

My question is this ... I know Highlands is very young ... and the Coach changed his philosophy a bit due to his youth (like making Liggett more of a "field general" instead of calling pitches) ...

 

Is this an indication that the new philosophy may not work?

 

I actually thought the change had some great logic ... but ...a catcher like Liggett may have the ability to lead the young pitchers a little better through his calling.

 

Definitely not pointing fingers here ... just looking for some insight.

Wow 2 games in. I believe that Conner and Beechwood are arguably two of the best teams in NKY. I would have to say you are a bit premature with these assesments.

 

Yes, it would be nice to win all your games, but as you now, the regular season doesn't mean a whole lot. With their district, it's a blind draw for the pairings so we'll see how that plays out. I am not settling, but again, it's a bit early.

 

With their schedule, the season may be long for these kids, but Jeremy has them sold on his philosophy. I say let the Coach coach and everybody else keep being that armchair QB that so many love to be. :thumb:
