How many boys do you see sitting on the bench at Division 1 schools that never get in the game. Just look at UK's bench or any of them. Hood is an example and there's a lot more out there.

 

Hood is a freshman at one of the greatest college basketball programs of all time. Did you expect him to start as a freshman? Sure Wall, Bledsoe, and Cousins all start, and Orton gets a lot of time, but Hood doesnt quite have that athleticism, speed or strength. His time will come at Kentucky. And... I combat your post with Darius Miller. He mad contributions last year as a freshman at Kentucky.

 

Give Hood time. He will be a necessity at UK. He has been able to slightly produce when he gets his time.

This year at UK... Wall, Cousins, Bledsoe are the exception, not the rule. I dont know that we will ever see this many GREATLY talented one and done players on one team. UK usually has guys that spend at least 2 seasons at the school.

Please name the 8-10 D1 players from Lex and Lou in the previous 5 years.

 

My point exactly.There arnt many,The level of skilled basketball players in the state of Ky has dropped drastically in the last 15 to 20 yrs.There are teams playing the state tourny that couldnt have gotten out of the district 20 yrs ago. Its not even close to the calibur it has been in the past.

There hasn't been that many in a single year that I can recall.

 

Ok.,for those of you splitting hairs,the numbers may not be exact.I personally feel the quality of H.S. basketball and the quality of skilled H.s. basketball players is not close to the level in the state of Ky. that it was in the mid 70's and 80's. I think Hood's best move is to move if he wants to play basketball. He's too good to sit on the bench at Ky when he could be a star in the OVC.

Here is what I have heard:

 

Christian Brewer has committed to play at University of Cincinnati-Clermont.

Mike Gabbard is third on Morehead's list of guards and has some interest to walk on at NKU, and previously turned down a scholarship offer to D2 Ashland.

 

Ryan Popp has offers to play at University of Cincinnati - Clermont, Thomas More, Wilmington, and Mt. St. Joe's, and previously turned down a walk-on spot at NAIA Ohio Dominican, with Clermont and Thomas More being the front runners.

 

Andy Earls has offers to play at University of Cincinnati-Clermont and Wilmington, with Clermont being most likely if he plays.

 

Austin Flannery has a scholarship offer from Walsh and is getting looks from D2 Lincoln Memorial and possible walk-on at NKU.

 

Corbett has an offer to play at D3 John Hopkins and interest from Centre.

They aren't actually in JUCO division. They are in a different division for community colleges. Can't remember the name of the league. I think they finished 3rd this year and won it a few years ago.

I am not at liberty to say at this point. I know there are 3 or 4 right now that have significant looks. This is not to say that all will go D1, but there is a solid chance. I am also not saying they are "big time" D1 looks, but D1 is still the top level of basketball. We shall see what happens this summer... and maybe some of their senior seasons.

There are teams right now that have loads of talent that cant even make it out of regionals... Lousiville-Eastern!
