Minnesota has apparently benefitted from Tubby Smith's hiring ... he's had three 20-win seasons and reached the NCAA twice in three years.

 

Prior to his hiring, Minnesota was 9-22. The Gophers were barely over .500 and made the NCAA only once in the previous six seasons.

 

Good thing Minnesota's administration was making the call and not you.

 

I will be forever greatful for the person who hired ten loss Tubby at Minnesota. FWIW, he has lost 14, 11, and 14 games will at Minnesota. Some things never change. Expect mediocrity and you get mediocrity.

If you consider mediocrity to be two straight NCAA berths after taking over a program that had been there once in the past six years, knock yourself out.

Or should I say players who Tubby took/brought to Kentucky because he couldn't get anybody else. Billy Clyde's major problem at Kentucky was he followed an individual who had slept on his job for three years running Kentucky basketball in the ground!!!!!!!!!

It's never going to happen at this point... I fought this same fight for 2 years before Tubby resigned and eventually gave up.

Yeah Meeks, Crawford, Bradley and Patterson had nothing to do with the Cats averaging 20 wins the past two years.

I think BCG is a great coach. I think his divorce and battle w/ alcohol cost him here. I really think if he can get that under control he'll make a big comeback. He had pretty good talent. Not great, but probably more than he had at any other stop.

BCG is a great coach that had to spend too much time his first year at the Craft Center cleaning up problems left from OTS! Billy Clyde was not the problem with Kentucky basketball that many want to portray, it started with the Saul Smith debacle and continued with Tubby's horrid attempts at trying to assemble "national championship level" recruiting classes. Tubby Smith is not capable of leading any college basketball program on a consistent basis at a national level, he is no more than a 20-12 get you to the Sweet Sixteen coach type coach. In ending, that is not acceptable at the University of Kentucky!
