East Carter 10 - Raceland 4 on Friday night.... The Rams hung tough with the Raiders. Raceland may surprise a few this season. They have a bunch of good young talent. Blankenship pitched well, Miller caught a good game solid D behind the plate, Huffman and Jones provided some solid at bats.

Raceland looked pretty young. East was still without 6 players and 4 starters because of b-ball state tourney. EC threw 7 pitchers 1 inning each. Raceland will be ok as season goes on, just not much pitching it seemed.

I agree. Like any baseball game pitching will dictate the season, and it seems as this may be weak spot for the Rams. Their poor catcher earned his playing time, digging and bloacking those that found the dirt...

Campbell scrimmaged Beechwood yesterday. JV score was 4-2 Beechwood and varsity score was 3-0 Beechwood.

Who looked good for the tigers and the camels.

Varsity = Beechwood - Bertke if i'm not mistaken had a HR and a basehit. He hit real good. Cottingham is real solid behind the plate and threw some runners out. Pitchers only stayed for an inning each so hard to tell who did well or not but they shut the camels out so they the whole pitching staff did their job. Bertke also pitched real well for them. Brilz hit the ball solid too. The camels really couldn't find any holes and all their line drives went right at Beechwood. Just a rough day hitting wise for the camels. Shepard ans steffen got some base hits but that's about it. Beechwood looked solid fielding the ball with really no errors. The camels made a lot of mental mistakes while running and got doubled up alot on line drives. They will be fine once they start to hit.

JV= Camels - Walsh the freshman had a pretty good game going 2 for 3 with a walk and an RBI. Little trouble fielding but was probably nervous.Their 2nd baseman Kramer is his last name, went 2 for 3 with a walk. He fielded pretty solid. Also the camels left bases loaded alot in the scrimmage. I don't really know anyone for Beechwood's JV because this is the first i have watched them but they were fundamentaly sound. Beechwood's starting pitcher Smith or something along them lines pitched well. Both were good game's to watch.

That would seem to be a pretty good match up. With Beechwood scrimmaging HHS twice last week, they should be in pretty good shape come Opening Day. Who else did Campbell scrimmage?

Doesn't your Freshman, JV and Varsity have to scrimmage at the same time and on the same day for it to be counted as 1 scrimmage. Rumor has it that Beechwoods Freshman/JV scrimmaged seperately from the Varsity's 2 scheduled scrimmages. If this happened, which could very well be a Rumor what the heck can happen to Beechwood's 2010 baseball season.:idunno:

My understanding of the rule is that each team can scrimmage twice. The freshman 2, JV 2, and varsity 2. Also, if there are no umpires involved it is a practice not a scrimmage. The BW/HHS JV/frosh deal was a practice. There were no umpires and was on the football field.

 

With the limited space at BW due to construction/softball and other outside teams using HHS they got together to practice not scrimmage.

 

Funny how everyone is always up on exactly what Beechwood is doing.
