Not sure what the issues are but HHS Beechwood only scrimmaged once......got to field and it rained out one day, played the next.

 

No. They scrimmaged twice. Varsity scrimmaged on one day, this counts as one program scrimmage. And then the Frosh scimmaged on a different day, this counts as a program scrimmage. Then BW scrimmaged Campbell Cty on a third day. Now if BW Varsity and Frosh would have scrimmaged HHS on the same day then there would be no issue here. It would have counted as just one scrimmage, but because they did it on two different days with same schools then that becomes the issue. Highlands recogonized this and realized that they had reached their 2 scrimmage maximum and finished play but others elected to play a third game. :idunno: You just got to know the rules in baseball. They can be tricky at times. :thumb:

I agree it is a joke, can we see a setup for basketball here. A school with two gyms can play everyone from freshman to Sr. in a 3 hour basketball scrimmage. Such is life in KY.

 

There is no setup here. Baseball is a weird game when it comes to rules. I know there are hs coaches that dont know all the rules, even college coaches dont know all the rules, I know I dont know a qtr of the rules. The setup is to always know what the rules are before you proceed as I too have learned the hard way when it came to baseball. Personally, I dont think KHSAA will probably do anything major to BW because of this, probably just a warning, but maybe next time they wont be so kind and there could be serious consequences. JMO.

I heard Highlands also scrimmage Newport, don't know that to be true but someone from Highlands could confirm this.

LOL! No! You usually don't scrimmage District opponents. Good try though.

As I stated, BW and HHS frosh PRACTICED together on the football field. The rule reads "Game Conditions", I would not consider taking infield and batting practice as game conditions. Some of you are stating what happened as if you were there for all of this when actually you are going off what you read here. We all know this could be mis-leading.

 

If any of you have been near BW lately you know there is very limited parking ( more so than before) with the construction of the new part of the school. Apparently, HHS has some other teams from outside the school using the football field for soccer or whatever. They agreed to get together and Practice. Most of you know there is a family connection there and BW coaches would love to see HHS be successful, except vs BW of course.

 

Just because they got together does not mean there were any rules broken. Like I said earlier, since this is BW some are going to make a federal case of it. If you were not there you really do not know what happened.JMO

My guess there is a lot of rule bending going on... no diff than a head coach not coaching his team during the summer dead period, but attending the games by sitting in his car and watching his asst coach coach the team

They measured bases out, setup a portable pitching mound because they played on the footbal surface, had a unofficial umpire behind the pitcher calling balls and strikes. Sound like what I would call a scrimmage. Oh yeah, for the record, the Frosh Birds who have several 7th graders on the team beat the hosting team. Yes they kept score. :thumb:

Well, I always say, "If it looks like a scrimmage, plays like a scrimmage, then dang gum it, it must be a scrimmage."

I wonder who showed up saying they were HHS? According to Newport fans they did scrimmage. I wasn't there so I can not confirm this info, only know what I was told. :idunno:
