Mardy Gilyard

Featured Replies

Hope nothing but the best for this young man. Good interview with Julie Foudy on ESPN first take.

I thought both players had good combines. They said Pike threw well, and I could have sworn Mardy had a decent 40 time.

Gilyard was a "top performer" in the vertical jump (6th) & 60 yard shuttle (6th).

I can't find his 40 time, but it said that he has "average" speed.

As I have predicted in the past, his 40 time did him no favors. His official time was 4.56...

Nevermind, I must have made a mistake when I was looking at his results.

Wow. I didn't expect him to be blazing, but 4.56 is poor. I was thinking somewhere in the mid-to-upper 4.4's.

The mock draft on nfl.com has the Bengals taking Golden Tate. I sure hope not.

So does Sporting News. What is your reasoning?

I'm willing to go on record and predict that he will be the best WR in this class. But I think they should take Gresham in the 1st and Benn in the 2nd.

What is Mardy's size? From what little I've seen of him, he seems skinny, but not necessarily fragile. Is he considered a fairly tough kid and sufficiently physical to take a pounding in the NFL? Has he had any injury-induced absences at Cincy? I'm just basing these comments on what I've noticed----may be way off base.

He checked in at 6'0" even and 187 at the combine and had zero injury issues at UC...

Thanks.

His weight is more than I would have thought.

I guess muscle weighs more than fat, as they used to say.

Jerry Rice ran a 4.6 and I believe Emmit Smith was in the 4.5s or so.

He has never had blazing speed he is just good in the open field and really good after the catch.
