Will Duke Move in Front of Kentucky in this weeks Rankings

Featured Replies

Now we're arguing SOS? So now you admit UK has better wins?

But if you insist, UK played 1 team ranked lower than 250 and Duke played 3 teams under 250.

Duke has played tougher opponents and has more wins over Top 50 opponents than UK. Check wins vs. Top 50. I'll do it if you won't.

Most likely not, but why should we really care?

Only thing that matters is that Syracuse, Kansas, and Kentucky are the the closest teams to locking up a #1 seed. A handful of others have some work to do. Duke, Kansas State, et al. are in that discussion.

Keep moving the target if you want. I've never argued SOS.

Duke's is better, but they lost to the two best teams the played. Other than that, the ACC has better mediocre teams than SEC. The SEC is stronger at the top. OOC wins are about equal.

If Duke wins out I believe the last #1 seed is theirs. Honestly, I don't believe that would be a good thing because we'd probably get shipped out west. I think we would do best as the #2 seed in the East opposed to the #1 in the West. Who knows though, just got to play the games that have been given.

I see where you are coming from but the selection committee looks at wins vs. Top 50 as opposed to a teams 5 best wins (that may be the same thing in some instances).

In their game last night I believe it showed Duke had the most wins vs. the Top 50 with 9 wins. I'm not sure how many UK has and I'm too lazy to look it up but I don't believe they are near 9.

Only other thing I would argue in your statement would be the Gonzaga game. I believe they are near same talent level of Georgetown and that was a huge OOC win. UK's biggest was Uconn and Duke has a win against them too.

Everything else I agree with.:thumb:

When will the rankings come out?

If Duke were the fourth rated #1 seed, they would go west, not UK. The #1 seeds are slotted preferentially based on their 1-4 ranking in the #1 seeds. If Syracuse, Kansas, or UK is the top #1 seed, they'll go to St. Louis. If Kansas is not the top #1 seed, they will probably go to Houston (I think). UK looks to be pretty much a lock for Syracuse unless they work their way up to St. Louis or down to Salt Lake, or off the #1 seed line altogether.

Here is Seth Davis's ballot from his twitter:

I would agree with this. Duke IMO is the only team in the ACC that will have a chance at the 1seed.

UK is ranked #3 in the coaches' poll...

You change your argument everytime you post. I never said anything about the selection committee. UK has 6 wins vs. the top 50 though.

Gonzaga is a better OOC game that UK has played, but they also played Penn and Gardner Webb which are lower than anyone UK played. Duke also didn't play any true OOC road games.

Not in the AP Poll.

1. Syracuse

2. Kansas

3. Kentucky

4. Duke

5. Kansas State

So the answer would be NO!!!
