You're right to a certain degree. Beechwood won with a relatively young team but relied heavily on the arm of Smith (who was a senior). Also losing Snyder behind the plate, Hyde in center, and Larrimore at short will be extremely detrimental to the offensive aspect. Beechwood will need to step it up in a big way in order to contend again this year.

 

Good assessment. They may well end up being a strong team later this year, but going into the season they have some holes to fill. #12 preseason billing just isn't realistic.

Beechwood is for sure no where near the top 25 teams in the state of KY JMO.

Dixie and Ryle could easily replace Beechwood and Cov Caths spot this year. Maybe even higher.

No disrespect to Mr. Smith, but how many games did he win last year? How many BIG games did he win? How many region games did he win? Outside of a no hitter vs NCC is there much else. BW was losing to Conner with him on the mound in the 2 nd round of the region. They came back and won that game after he came out.

 

I agree Beechwood does not belong in the top 25 in the state. I do not think any of the Northern Kentucky do. Dixie has a nice pitching staff and Ryle will be Ryle, but no top 25's up here. JMO

Niner, you're probably right about Danville. Doing it over I would probably put them ahead of Mercer County, but probably not West. Regardless, it should be a very competitive region. I guess I had Danville so low due to their awful showing against Lexington Catholic in semi-state.

Catholic does seem to have Danville's number as of late. Lex. Cath. has gone 5-0 against Danville over the last four years. Catholic has been pretty good during that time winning two State Championships.

Once the season gets going, the cream will rise to the top.

I believe if I am not mistaken, he beat Holy Cross in the district to get to the Region and he was hurt for the first part of the season and then was beating boone county before getting hit with a comebacker. He then came back in a few days and pitched the district game.

 

I think Mr. Leeke is coming back though this year which should definitely provide the offensive spark that they lacked last year. He could help then compete for a regional championship:ylsuper:

Clark didn't even make it through the first round of regions last year, and they graduated more talent then they have coming up. I'm not sure how they are even in the top 25.

 

Then again, I'm not really sure why they even put this out. There is no way that this can even be remotely close to accurate.

I think you have Danville a little low. They won the 12th region last year and have 7 starters back. You have two 12th region teams ahead of the in West Jessamine at #5 and Mercer at #19. Danville went 2-0 against West and 1-0 against Mercer.

Don't forget Somerset when you're ranking teams from the 12th Region. They also return 7 starters as well off of a Regional Runner-Up team that finished 23-6. They also split with Danville, beating the Admirals in the All A Region before falling in the 12th Regional Finals.
