Beechwood and Cov Cath have no place in the top 25. Both lost too much. I don't look for either to be in the 9th region final this season.

I'll go on record that I think Lawrence Co will go back to Applebee's for the 3rd time in 4 years. If Shep could pitch then they are top 5 IMO. They are going to be really good again IMO.

I believe if they had Shep available this year they would have been top 5, without him it is a big drop. He is the one guy who could go out and dominate a game against a good opponent. Everyone else on the staff is beatable on a given day.

Tommy John surgery this past summer on his throwing arm. Glad to here he's doing well, but he will not be pitching this high school season.

I agree 100% with your post. Montgomery split two games this past summer with Lawrence and I'd rank Montgomery anywhere from 3-5 in the 10th region this year.

 

Lawrence, without Shepard on the mound, may have a hard time getting out of district if they have to face either Johnson Central or Paintsville in their first game.

 

Don't get me wrong, Lawrence will be a very good team, just not as good without Shepard on the mound.

I agree he is a rare kid that you can almost chalk up a win when he is on the mound no matter who you are playing.

I've seen a lot of good teams at LC in the past 25 or so years. Even without him on the mound they are going to be really good I think. ZERO doubt he is a difference maker. They have had better but I think they are going to be a special group.

They still have a couple of nice pitchers. Should be REALLY good on defense. Some nice bats with kids like Pack, Shep, Miller along with guys that have been there in Mills, Banks etc.

Some quick notes: I don't think Lex Cath will be #1, but they're defending state champs so the spot is theirs to lose (side note to quick note: I didn't think Lex Cath would be #1 last year either). No way do I know much about all 16 regions in Kentucky, but I did try to include at least one team from each region...thoughts based much on last years record and how many players they have returning. Terrible logic, I know. Anyway, enjoy...and please, tell me how bad I messed this up.

When did I say that neither would make the regional tournament? I said they wouldn't make the final (aka the 3rd round of the tourney). So HMMMMMMMMMMM you need to reread what I said.
