November 26, 20169 yr I stopped by Wooden Cask Brewing in Newport today. The wife and I shared two flights of four and came away impressed. Nine beers on tap and one cider. Apparently the building is over 130 years old and has served as a punk rock club, bowling alley and most recently as a Taxi company. The owner used some wood from the bowling alley for the bar top.
November 26, 20169 yr The Barefoot Pinot Noir Mrs.C1 and I enjoyed last night was a great compliment to teriyaki pork chops and asparagus. The Original Coors Banquet beer I drink this afternoon while watching the OSU-Michigan game will compliment the nachos and chicken wings we will be enjoying... :lol2:

November 28, 20169 yr Slid into Wooden Cask yesterday, new brewery in Newport on York Street. Had two flights to cover most of their stuff. Didn't realize love anything but preferred their Stout & Porter.
November 28, 20169 yr Stopped into Asheville twice this weekend. Hit up White Duck Taco and Buxton Hall for lunch. Stopped into Twin Leaf and The Funkatorium for post-lunch brew. Freaking love that place.

Just drink what you like. I've drank a ton of Rolling Rocks over the years, and while I've now developed a taste for hoppier beers, I still enjoy a Rolling Rock now and then.

That's pretty conservative. I brought back almost 100 different singles from my trip this summer to Colorado. The only bad part about that is if you really like something you can't just run out to the store and get another one.

November 29, 20169 yr Just for personal knowledge, what does an average single cost? That just depends on the beer. I've seen some as high as $10-$12 a piece. Other stuff for $2-$3.
November 29, 20169 yr So for someone starting out, trying their first craft beer, what would you suggest? Coming from someone who drinks Miller/Bud Lite type of beers. Someone suggested a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Any other suggestions?
November 29, 20169 yr ^New Belgium Fat Tire would be a good one as well. Probably a Rhinegeist Cougar, a Mad Tree Lift, or a Braxton Storm for a local start.
