February 15, 201016 yr I agree and throw in Nova. I strongly disagree with mentioning Nova anywhere in this thread. IMO they are scary good. Their guard play could carry them all the way to the NC. The only thing this team lacks is size and they have done pretty darn good w/o it to this point.
February 15, 201016 yr Teams with biggest spread between ranking and RPI: 21 Ohio St. (Ranked 9, RPI 30) 15 Michigan St. (Ranked 11, RPI 26) 13 Texas (Ranked 15, RPI 28) Underrated? Go down the list in the Atlantic 10 ... Temple (RPI 12), Xavier (RPI 21), Rhode Island (RPI 23), Richmond (RPI 27), Dayton (RPI 31). Even Charlotte is in the top 50 of the RPI at #41. The A 10 is going to put a lot of teams in the tourney this year. I was amazed when I saw the A10 RPI's at the end of that Florida/Xavier game the other night. They SHOULD get more teams to the dance than the Pac 10, SEC, and ACC, but we'll see
February 15, 201016 yr How can Syracuse and Villanova be overrated? They've lost two games a piece, we're almost 3/4 of the way through the season. That's one of the most absurd things I've read in a long time. I would say: Washington-started the season ranked 13th, made it as high 10, they're 17-8 now with losses to Texas Tech, UCLA, Arizona, and Arizona State-those teams are bad. Connecticut-started the season at 14th, made a few trips in the top 10, they're 14-11 right now. North Carolina-started the season at 4, they're 14-11 as well with a horrendous 3-7 record in an average ACC this year. Michigan-started the season at 15, they're 12-12 now, with losses to Boston College, Utah, and Indiana. AND, they have two 17+ ppg scorers on the wing. Oklahoma-started the season at 16, they're 13-11, with losses to Virginia Commonwealth, San Diego, Houston, and UTEP.
February 16, 201016 yr Duke is a a good team....they can certainly beat anyone, they just aren't elite. I believe there are only three elite teams. Beat anyone? I don't agree with that. I don't believe they can beat Georgetown, Villanova, Kansas, Kentucky, Syracuse, etc. Those are all bad matchups for Duke anyways.
February 16, 201016 yr Author I said in the Louisville,Cuse thread Sunday. Maybe the whole Big East conf. After Nova lost to Uconn
February 16, 201016 yr I said in the Louisville,Cuse thread Sunday. Maybe the whole Big East conf. After Nova lost to Uconn I think it's just a testament to how good the conference is...still, this will only be their third loss of the season, I don't see how you can only lose three games, play in the Big East and be overrated.
February 16, 201016 yr Beat anyone? I don't agree with that. I don't believe they can beat Georgetown, Villanova, Kansas, Kentucky, Syracuse, etc. Those are all bad matchups for Duke anyways. Once again, Duke hatred is hindering common sense. If Louisville can go to the Carrier Dome and beat Syracuse, UConn can go to Villanova and win and if Penn can beat Cornell, then anything can happen on an individual night. You never know what may happen in college basketball on any given night. This isn't the NBA where it's a best out of seven series...it's one and done. Duke is certainly capable of beating those teams. They most likely won't but they are capable nor would I be surprised if they did.
February 16, 201016 yr Beat anyone? I don't agree with that. I don't believe they can beat Georgetown, Villanova, Kansas, Kentucky, Syracuse, etc. Those are all bad matchups for Duke anyways. They can absolutely beat anyone of those teams.

The only thing this team lacks is size and they have done pretty darn good w/o it to this point. Is that right then why did they lose tonight to a bad UConn team? They have been very fortunate to not have lost a few more. The lack of an inside game will do them in.
February 16, 201016 yr Is that right then why did they lose tonight to a bad UConn team? They have been very fortunate to not have lost a few more. The lack of an inside game will do them in. The Big East is the best conference in the country for a reason, Georgetown demolished Villanova, then loses to South Florida and Rutgers. Louisville gets smashed by St. John's, then beats Syracuse at Syracuse. Every night you see that any team in the Big East can beat any other Big East team on any given night. I don't think that makes Villanova or Syracuse overrated, it's just means that you can't go into a Big East conference game and take it for granted that you will walk out with a win.
February 16, 201016 yr Is that right then why did they lose tonight to a bad UConn team? They have been very fortunate to not have lost a few more. The lack of an inside game will do them in. A bad UConn team that beat Texas, nearly beat Kentucky, and just beat Nova. Really? Do you think that the Big East may actually be a half way decent conference?
February 16, 201016 yr A bad UConn team that beat Texas, nearly beat Kentucky, and just beat Nova. Really? Do you think that the Big East may actually be a half way decent conference? That can't be. HAHAHA
February 16, 201016 yr Author I thought it was about this year. :idunno: Duke hasn't been to the Final Four since 2004 and have lost tourney games in their home state since then. Do we have to go back and find all of Duke's trips to the Final Four and document where they played their tourney games? Enter this one.....The 1992 Elite 8 game against UK was in Philadelphia, PA. Not Philadelphia, NC. Geez, can't have a thread without Duke hate, huh? But they played the the first 2 games in Greensboro N.C that year.
