Are any of HC freshman 8th graders playing up? They are very impressive, though I thought they would beat both Montgomery and Mason by 30 points apiece. Not too many freshman teams have 3-4 players that can dunk in pre game warmups. What was their record on the season?

Looks like the future is bright in Cynthiana! Way to go Breds!!!

Dillon Pulliam was the only eighth grader playing up. Record for the season was 15-5. Lost to Lex. Cath 3 times, Scott Co. 1 time, and to Nicholas Co. ( Didn't play the top players) . Harrison subbed alot against Montgomery trying to rest players, because Harrison had to play back-to-back games. Not sure if they're capable of beating each team by 30??

HC freshman team has 3 people the can dunk already with a couple more really close. They have a great future if they continue to play together. They have the size and athleticism to be a great ball team if they play as a team.

Great to hear and congrats on winning the tourney.:thumb:

Anyone have a record of who has won the Freshman tourney the last several years? I know Bishop Brossart defeated GRC in the finals last year.

When this years seniors were freshman Harrison County also won it. Jared Martin, Malcolm Thomas, and Zack Turner from Harrison County were all members of that team defeating Campbell County in the championship game. They beat Clark County the first game. Harrison County has three or four great athletes from that championship freshman team that do not play basketball anymore that could be a big help to Thomas, Martin, and Turner this year.

Congratulations to the Freshmen Harrison County Thorobreds!!!

Coach Reitz might be seeing a resurgence in the program reminiscent to that of the late 90's.

Congratulations to all the participants, and especially the young Breds.:thumb:

Most of these kids have been playing together since 4th grade and have been very successful through the years. Most of the credit should go to Mark Thomas and Louis Kendall for teaching them the basic fundamentals of the game. They have a love and passion for the game. Good chemistry as well.

Congrats to Harrison County. I had heard they had a very nice team.

Did Harrison Co freshman play Scott Co or Lex Cath freshman this year? If so, how did they do? Thanks.

I think it was mentioned in the thread above.

I remember this group of players in a 5th grade tourney and they were solid athletes and a tough out for my boy's team.

Congrats to the Breds.

Did those three or four athletes decide to concentrate on baseball solely or just dropped sports entirely?

The other two starters for that team decided to concentrate on baseball. The other couple dropped sports entirely as they ran into the real world.
