Calipari delivers hope to gravely ill Indiana boy

I don't care what anyone says, when people do what Cal did, no one has the right to say they only did it for the publicity, you cannot judge someone's heart.

Nice, but sad story.

Not sure if this kid would be able to do so, but I think it would be great for some UK boosters, or someone to fly him to a game soon, first row, behind the UK bench. Heck, if he can come to a game, if he is able to do so, let him be the Y in Kentucky, like LeBron. I am sure the kid would get a kick out of it.

This is the kind of person Coach Cal is. No publicity.

I was being sarcastic with the publicity comment. You know someone will say it though.

The only reason that this story made the presses was that the family was touched by the act. Just an awesome act of kindness by Cal, but I feel just terrible for this young man.

Ahh I'm sure Cal is a decent person when it comes down to the core of things, and these are things that point to that. I just don't like how he handles himself as a coach and the players he played in the past. But you can't judge someone who does things like this, because I highly doubt he does it for the publicity, because this won't be national news.

Although, if the Gameday crews gets wind of it, they might use. They like to throw in a heartfelt story from time to time.

Great story by Cal. Also reminds me when Patterson went to see a little girl in the hospital and didn't tell anyone because he didn't want any kind of recognition for it. It's great to have people like this that can touch the heart of ill people and not want anything in return.

I knew you were being sarcastic, and you are right someone would say it. But all they have to do is look at the many comments in this kids guest book already from UK fans! The fans are not doing it for publicity, and neither is Cal. It's amazing to see so many UK fans do this, and it's also what I was expecting when I went to the guest book.

Good job coach, and good job UK fans! :thumb:

Patterson just seems to be a great kid. The kind of kid you are proud to cheer for.

Even if he did do it "only for publicity", it wouldn't bother me at all if those were his motives. No matter what his reasoning was, he touched this little kid and made this day. In the end, that is all that matters.

It's so nice to have a Coach who does everything he can to not only better the bball program, but also the school, and his community.

Coach Cal 4 President...when his contract is up lol.

Couldn't agree more...its been a joy having him as a Kentucky Wildcat. His mother should be very proud of him.

It is funny that this is one of the reasons so many people in Memphis were so angry when he left. He was very involved in the community and when that happens, the assumption is that they will never leave.

Coach Cal and the youngster

I don't care if people think he's a shady recruiter or whatever, he seems like a great guy. Cal is the man.
