I don't care if people think he's a shady recruiter or whatever, he seems like a great guy. Cal is the man.

It is funny that this is one of the reasons so many people in Memphis were so angry when he left. He was very involved in the community and when that happens, the assumption is that they will never leave.

 

That is certainly the case. Cal was very active in the community while he was in Memphis, it just didn't get as noticed on the National Level. I don't know if he would have still been able to be as successful with "Hoops for Haiti" if he were still in Memphis, because it probably wouldn't have gotten as much exposure. By being at Kentucky, it sort of allows him to do more, or do things on a bigger scale.

If you have a chance to do something like this for someone, do it. In no way this is a publicity stunt, this is someone who cares about others.

Cal has a young boy as well. I love Coach Cal. I really really hopes he stays for the next ten years it is a treat to the whole state/region.

Great story by Cal. Also reminds me when Patterson went to see a little girl in the hospital and didn't tell anyone because he didn't want any kind of recognition for it. It's great to have people like this that can touch the heart of ill people and not want anything in return.

 

Yep. And Jerry Tipton chose to cover the Patterson "new vehicle story" instead of the visit with the little girl.

A very touching story , I don't think Coach Cal would want a big deal made of this . The story should be about the happiness and possibly the hope that it brought Kevin, whom is the fighter in this story . Lets pull together here whether you are part of Big Blue Nation or not and keep Kevin and his family in our PRAYERS.

It makes the kid happy and thats what is important.
