Is anyone going to watch the Olympics?

Featured Replies

I love NASCAR. 8 laps into any race I'm out cold on the couch. It's better than any sleeping pill on the market. Of course some of the events in the winter Olympics run a close second to NASCAR. IMO

:D

I'm a NASCAR fan, but I'm the same way. :thumb:

Will watch as much as possible...sports 24/7....I love it.

Yes I'm watching as much of the olympics as possible.

My interest level in the Summer Olympics is almost nil, and my interest in the Winter Games is even less.

I actually watch very little sports on TV (other than UK hoops and football) but I'll be watching the Olympics. TV is set right now to NBC, but I have to admit I'm ready to switch from figure skating to NCIS. :ylsuper:

I enjoyed watching the U.S. defeat Switzerland in hockey this afternoon. Canada's getting a good run Norway right now, too. Tied 0-0 at the beginning of the second period.

RTS is going to laugh at me for this (because I argued with him about it), but I agree about the mens figure skating. It's just not as entertaining as the pair or the womens competitions.

Olympics aside, does anybody else think it's ironic that NBC has the best sportscasters out there, and virtually no sports to cover?

Another note, I think it was absolutely tasteless for the IOC (or anybody) to release the footage of the Kumaritashvili crash/death. There's no "greater good" that will come of that being released to the world at large. But you know what they say in the news world..."If it bleeds, it leads."

Yes, NBC does a very nice job with announcers. Tom Hammond is fantastic, the hockey guys are great, and Al Michaels/Bob Costas as studio hosts are great. Even the people announcing sports I'm not familiar with do a good job of explaining them and building a little drama.

As for the release of the photos/videos of the Georgian luger, I have done everything I can to avoid it, although it has been tough. I guess the thought was its better for the IOC to release instead of it appearing on Youtube or something similar. That was my only thought.
