Someone has to send them registration material, they have to be informed of the mission of the school, they have to know when the placement test is, they have to receive class description summaries, they have to know what extra activites they can be part of, they have to know where to send those tuition payments, etc. That is all part of being recruited.

What if a student lives in Latonia and her parents and two brothers went to Holy Cross and they move to Erlanger in the middle of her junior year? Is she supposed to transfer to St. Henry?

This is wrong , a majority of people who attend HC decide so on their own. Alot of people are 2nd and 3rd generation students. They attended the feeder schools and move on to HC.

Probably the same way they know when the ACT is, or the SAT, or where to get a drivers license or anything else that is common knowledge. Particularly when it's common knowledge to a particular group or family who has long been a part of the private schools. This isn't magical hidden information we're talking about here.

Even if Stud's little brother is going to attend HC and always intended to attend Holy Cross like every other family member, the family is going to receive information about open house dates, placement test dates, how to apply for tuition assistance, course offerings, his little brothers grade school class is probably going to have a day to visit Holy Cross, Holy Cross will probably have a gym night or something similar where the grade school kids come and watch movies and eat pizza, his little brothers basketball or soccer team probably gets to go the grade school night at a Holy Cross game, and some Holy Cross Honor students probably do a presentation about Holy Cross and field questions at his grade schools.

You would need to start a swimming team at that school. Privates schools have a much easier time starting programs than public schools. (Less red tape) :thumb:

Before Brossart or NCC could start a swim team, they might want to do things for other exisitng sports, like maybe having a track for the track team, maybe having a softball field, etc.

Some private schools have more resources than others obviously. I think you would be surprised how little some schools have to work with and of course it is self-generated. Trinity and St.X are able to do more things with the money they are able to generate versus small private schools like Brossart or NCC or Holy Cross or Latin.

Turners connection is why alot of kids attend HC.

 

The Turners is something of a contradiction to me. On one hand I believe they provide a very nice service at a very affordable price for kids to come and learn and play basketball. A lot of very nice people belong and give alot of time to helping kids improve and for that I commend them.

On the other hand I totally disagree with an atmosphere where adults are openly drinking alcohol in front of kids while they are playing their games. I'm

not a prude and enjoy a drink as much as the next person but I don't think people who have been consuming alcohol need to be coaching kids when there might be alcohol on their breath. I know the bar area is separate from the gym but I've been there enough times to know that the kids are running back and forth from the gym to the bar. I also know that you are not supposed to take alcohol into the gym when a game is being played but their are some who sort of work their way in to watch. IMO alcohol should not be served in the club while kids are there playing a basketball game. It's just my opinion and one I know most won't agree with.

Turner's is much older than what is in Covington. It can be Traced back to Germany. Its club/society where drinking is acceptable. Its problem I have with today's society there is nothing wrong with it, many responsible and productive people were raised throught turners.
