Kenton County requires that you live in the county. I don't think there is any tuition for out-of-district Kenton County students.

 

Boone County not only does not accept outside students, you MUST live within the boundaries of that particular high school to attend. You cannot, for example, live in Hebron and attend Ryle.

KHSAA doesn't get to make that decision, thats Mr.Bowman's and the Bishop's decision.

 

CCH only pulls very a small part of west covington and no other part of covington. There are alot of kids who parents are alumni who live in Erlanger, Edgewood, and Villa Hills who send kids and I see no reason why it should stop.

When he was in the 8th grade at Woodland Middle School, feeder to Scott, we looked extensively at high schools available to him, Scott, Holy Cross, Beechwood, Highlands, CCH, being the main options. Academics, sports, location, all being part of the equation. The best fit for him was CCH, even though we are not Catholic.

Currently my son is in his senior year, and he 100% happy with his choice, as are his father and myself.

Not many people from "south" covington make that choice. Most often those kids attend HC. But if that was the best decision for you all , then thats all that matter.

We run an ad telling the advantages of attending Ludlow. Others schools such as the one you support take it a step further IMO and actively encourage those kids with certain athletic abilities to attend theirs. You and I will never agree on this issue so why do we keep going on about it? You think it's right and obviously I don't.

I think that is great and I'm glad your son is happy and doing well but in my opinion he should either have attended HC since he is in South Covington or Scott if he wished to play athletics. I know most don't agree but I'm entitled to my opinion. I do think the parochial/private schools need clearly defined districts when it pertains to sports. I do realize that those schools will never agree with me.

As a parent I do believe you should have every right to send your child to whatever school you wish and quite honestly it's nobody elses business but if that child wants to play sports then he has to play in the district he lives. IMO..

However, that DOES NOT prevent parents/students from checking out schools on their own. And of course if the parent/student is not Catholic they too are free to attend any school they wish. If they make that choice, why should they be banned from Sports?

 

Similarly a lifelong Ludlow family that has had three generations graduate from Ludlow moves to Covington, why should the student not be free to pay tuition and play sports at Ludlow?

They are still recruited even if generation after generation has gone there. Someone has to send them registration material, they have to be informed of the mission of the school, they have to know when the placement test is, they have to receive class description summaries, they have to know what extra activites they can be part of, they have to know where to send those tuition payments, etc. That is all part of being recruited.

There are rules, they are enforced, and if you break one you are penalized.
