The President mentioned that we shouldn't blow our money in Vegas? Cancel our trip." No chance. He was making a point. Argue the point all you want but LV needs to deal with reality.

When belts have to be tightened, frivilous items have to bet put aside. And Las Vegas is a frivilous item. There's nothing wrong with it, but there are other matters more pressing.

Will the boating industry be on his case for this? Yes. Really. Really, really, really. Las Vegas doesn’t need any more negative connotations on its gambling business in this tough economy. But by all means, lets all applaud his very stupid comment. Easy for you here in Kentucky to think this is much a do about nothing, there are those in Vegas that disagree with you and with good reason. It's they that have been, and very possibly will be for a second time, affected by his comment. Las Vegas mayor Oscar Goodman doesn't share such a warm, fuzzy feeling for Obama on this. And YES, the boat industry should be ticked off as well.

Why not say gambling isn't a great idea on a tight budget and leave it at that? I know people who travel to Vegas and don't bet $1 the entire trip. Like others have mentioned this probably barely hurts Vegas, but I'd be unhappy if I were an employee in that state. What's the difference to him if they go to Vegas for trips or if they go blow money on a shopping trip to NY? The shows in Vegas are just as good or better than NYC and in Vegas you could win as opposed to no possible way of winning when you buy purses and jewelry in NY. It's a vacation spot for entertainment purposes that really could use some help not a second mentioning by the President to stay away.

February 3, 201016 yr He did not tell people to NOT visit Las Vegas. He said that blowing a bunch of cash there is not smart when you don't have it. RTS, what part of this statement is wrong? "You don't blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you're trying to save for college. You prioritize. You make tough choices." It sounds like pretty good advice to me.
