It doesn't add up to 100% because the columns don't add up to 100%. I'm assuming the 1.19% went to independents and other parties.

That's the question I have. This doesn't refute his criticism, it just means (without digging too deeply) he and his party would benefit more from it, which would seem to make his criticism less specious. In fairness, I didn't necessarily disagree with the SCOTUS decision, I'm actually supportive of it, and I didn't necessarily like its role in Obama's address and thought it was useless.

So just to add a funny number in the mix. USA Today had a part in their paper today that showed the Top 10 US beer sales holidays. It showed cases bought which I assumed meant a 24 pack because thats what's most commonly referred to as a case rather than a 12 pack. If you took all 10 of those dates which and did the math it came out to I believe 15.1 BILLION beers in the US(not including bar alcohol or kegs or any other assortment).

 

Just thought that was funny compared to the 1.5 billion dollar amount shown above which were the top 100 contributors. Just a bit of a different perspective. Even if they meant for it to be 12 pack v 24 it still dworfs that number and makes you wonder how concerned people really are about politics at the end of the day, or perhaps that's just how we all deal with politics, an angry fist with one hand and a cold drink in the other.:dancingpa

I'm disappointed I don't See my International Union on there "The United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of Plumbers and Pipefitters of The United States and Canada " . We must be pikers .

Really though, with the GOP's longstanding efforts to break up unions, what would you expect? I'm surprised any GOP candidate got dollar one from a union.

I think the real "story behind the story" would be to find out how individual union member's voting patterns across the same elections balances out. I doubt seriously 94% of these same union members pulled the lever for democrats. It is wrong for unions to shakedown "dues" from every single member, and to then donate it in a "non-representative" distribution for a strong handed political agenda that goes against the core values of a significant percentage of their members.

 

I would think such an expose would be a guaranteed Pulitzer Prize for any journalist intrepid enough to connect the dots and reveal the little men pulling the levers behind the curtain. :thumb:
